But universities and colleges in the U.S. are more modern, high-tech and more advanced than other ones around the world. You get what you pay for.
Again, according to who? Again, the whole purpose is to provide college for individuals who cannot afford it. Your claiming the best and brightest colleges in the world, but not everybody wants to go there. We are talking about the middle man, the guy next door who has the ability to obtain a college degree but not go through an ivy league college. Sure, if you have 100 of thousands of dollars to spend than America is right up your alley. You have access to the highest quality colleges in the world if you have the intelligence to pass it. But if you just want to obtain your college degree, doesn't matter where, to be a more competitive person in the work force, than European countries provide much better benefits for the regular joe smoe than their American counterparts.
Are you saying Oxford is low tech? Look trust me if I had to go back to a 4 year college (and I won't) I would likely do it here. Though HAVING said that, you can go to school in Belgium in English. I'd even venture to say you can do that in Sweden, I know they have English only schools for Elementary aged children.
that's when you can pretty much stop reading any other posts by the man. Oxford is world renown, and if it's cheaper to attend that institution than say, Harvard, it has nothing to do with quality of facilities, academic prestige, or student composition. The US system just sucks if you're looking to go to one of the elite universities, that charge 30k+ a year. greedy bastards
You aren't paying for the education. It is the research that is hiking the prices. Many of the schools like MIT have top rated researchers. We stole the bright research fields from other countries a long time ago. They are doing a good attempt at getting it back.
Did you say Research? Ivy League School have the who's-who of big business and finance donating. MIT, I would say that get a fair amount of money from the State and Federal Government. But more Public Schools, especially if they have top level Basketaball or Football, what your paying for - Is Mack Brown's contract!
HAHAHAHAHA! Thats so funny on so many levels! The US is behind in education compared to MANY countries, that is a commonly known fact... what the hell is wrong with you? Its less modern and less high tech than a vast number of countries in the western world, and we are slipping more and more behind... and the education certainly isnt better. You jump into conclusions of things you have no clue of.. Thats it - I need to put you on ignore... but somebody - please, this dude is a spammer - no more, no less.
yeah we're definitely behind Mexico and Chile from a technological standpoint.. going to go shoot myself now
I don't know about this. I have seen news article rankings where the some of the universities in the usa were ranked in the top 20. I think you are talking more about our k to 12 system which is horrible.
Absolutely agree on that. and no, I was talking Universities. Still does not mean that the US is the most modern and high tech, more than enough competition to go around.. and we are slipping, unfortunately... that was my point.. DB needs to stop buying into propaganda and get real, thats all...
