I wish I had free college education out here. Hell, I'll settle for an end to this bullshit CSU budget crisis.
i know right that's a reason why some people go the route of community for their first two years, then go to a regular one. the only downside of a good community college, is the stigma attached to it. They're generally cheap and accept just about anyone, and that doesn't bode well with kids going to say Stanford or Cal State. However, in Philly, our community college here is known for it's nursing program, and for it's students doing just as well or better in the RN licensing examination. After that, you can transfer to Drexel or Temple, and complete out your bachelors. In the end, people won't ask you where you went to school. You'll still be an RN and you'll still be making a decent living. Catch my drift?
Wish we had free university education in the UK. I do feel sorry for Americans though. I paid £1000/year tuition while at university. That was standard cost across all the English Universities..Its gone up a bit now,but still its bargain. I think its £3000/yr now. And English Universities are excellent.
My community college is supposedly one of the best community colleges in the state(even though it looks like a shithole), so I'm hoping the CSUs won't trip too much, but in these times, they can't really blame anybody for going the CC route. I read that my school offers guaranteed admission for several UCs, but no CSUs. Phuckin' shit.
lol Drexel has a partnership with Philadelphia community and other technical schools, that allows students to do the 2year route then transfer. Like I said before, kids can save money by doing so, but are hesitant because of the reputations of such schools in comparison with traditional colleges. As long as you keep up with advisors and make sure you class credits will transfer, you're in the green. Hell some community colleges are offering Bachelors programs now.
Man, those bullshit daytime scam schools offer bachelors degrees now. ITT and other schools with shit that doesn't transfer. I feel bad for those people who went there. I almost got suckered in 12th grade when I was thinking of going there because I wasn't sure what the hell I actually wanted to do in school or why I was in school.
The United States is the innovation and entrepreneurship center of the world. It is home to the best universities in the world and the destination of choice for bright minds.
What are the tuition fees at Oxford, Cambridge or Imperial college? I will help you here, its less than £4000/yr, £3,225 to be exact. What are the tuition fees at Harvard, Stanford or M.I.T? You can find this out. Once you have looked there above up, then ask yourself this question: Which citizens get the better deal for Education?
I can answer that having graduated from the Ivy League. when i was in school and graduated 1988 from Brown University, my parents paid 36,000 dollars a year with room and board. plus expenses and spending about 60k a year back then

exactly, depends on what you are looking for. not all can go to college or should and why waste your money, or the taxpayers if you cant afford to or dont have the aptitude. the prices in the US are outrageous yet more kids in the US are going to college from all socioeconomic backgrounds than at any other time in history
