Teach at what level? Unfortunatley it seems college professors are the only ones making any decent money.

That's far from true fam. Just depends on the industry. Tech and medical related related fields are going through a boom. The problem is we don't have enough qualified people to do the work

I thought you were talking about teaching economics, was wondering if you talking about teaching high school or college because high school teachers don't seem to make much money. But, hey man I know it is friday night and=:smt033

Why is it so hard for Congress to pass a temporary one year tax hike that automatically goes back to the original tax rate after that year is collected??

Like it times of national economic crisis, why could Uncle Sam say, EVERYONE is going to pay 50% in 2013, stipulating that it's a one time thing??

I never understood why we never see this.

Because there's no way they'd bring it back down immediately. It would take years

I hear this argument, but you know no congressman is going to argue that we keep a 50% tax in place for more than a year.

COngress tries to make temporary tax cuts permanent all the time, but a one year tax hike?? That would be political suicide.

I cant understand this point of view to save my life. If you have a consumer base then you can always get capital the only question is how much are you willing to pay for the capital. People are going to charge you capital based on how much of a risk your business is perceived to be as well as the current market rate, but if you serve a growing or stable market then you have no problem, unless you are just a fuck up. The revenue driver of the business is the market or consumer base that it serve, so why do people act as if the business itself is feeding the employess when a business itself is only a collection of capital. A brand name or the name of the business is the only thing that has any value in a business because it is reconized by the market. When you say the hand that feeds I think of markets and not business. That is the only reason the business are here anyway, or else why are they doing all of their hiring overseas??

    Great post, Beasty.

Many conservatives have this relationship screwed up; they believe that individual businesses drive the market, when in fact it's consumers and capital allocation that sustain businesses.

U.S. corporations are bluffing about potentially relocating the total of their operations overseas and losing their preferred access to U.S. markets.

You're missing the point completely. The argument is this "business vs. government" battle that Obama is perpetuating. Nobody is talking about whether businesses need customers...of course they need customers. The point I'm making is that cities, states, and countries that offer the most benefits to employers reap the most gain. They bring jobs and added revenue to that economy. But if you try to tax them out of existence, they will find a more favorable place. So now you have Google, Microsoft, Apple, GE, and others stashing $1.7 trillion in profits overseas instead of bringing it back to the US to re-invest in our economy. Obama needs to realize that business is his friend, not his enemy.

They don't have to relocate. They already have offices overseas and they already stash a large portion of profits overseas. Conservatives are saying that if you gave them a break, they could bring those profits back here and expand operations.

    Fuck em.
If it's so bad over here let them incorporate overseas and import their goods to the U.S. like China.

It is bad over here. Instead of trying to drive companies out of business with these insane tax rates, let's figure out a way to help them grow. I live in California and ran a business. You pay federal taxes, state taxes, payroll taxes...then afterwards come up with payroll for your employees and pay your bills. It's a miracle any business survives. Democrats have brainwashed people into thinking corporations are all evil. If you have a job, you work at a corporation. The bed you sleep on, the food you eat, the clothes you wear, the gas you purchase...all corporations!!

That's why I'm serious about U.S. multinationals relocating all their major operations overseas and finding a new host country in which to incorporate.

If it's really that onerous on major U.S. businesses to function inside America, try someplace else.

I'm sure Italy, Greece or Brasil would welcome having U.S. corporations permanently relocate to their territories.

No one believes all corporations are bad, but big business is trying to game the political system to ease their tax burden.

I've never heard of major U.S. corporations under any other administration offshoring their overseas profits indefinitely when the tax rate they pay for bringing those profits back home was the same under recent former presidents.

    It's economic extortion IMO.
