France moves to banning full Muslim veil

Isn't the whole point of keeping women covered from head to toe is because they're basically (for lack of a better term) "owned" and considered second class citizens in those countries?

Isn't the veil just a way to keep the women under control? They can't be shown because men might lust after them or something of that nature?

Speaking as a Christian I am no fan, obviously, of islam. I definitely do not care to see the garb of other religions in public. However, I am also a secularist, I believe FIRMLY in the separation of Church and state, and as such I'm not even a huge fan of seeing my own faith's garb outside of a Church. I do not believe we have a right to dictate how a member of a faith dresses.

Right now, I am detecting the usual stench of utter reeking hypocrisy around here that all rule of law should go out of the window, at the merest footnote in some rag, that women rights are somehow being tickled, and that they might not WANT to wear the garb. They do; LIVE with it.

And by the way, I'm with France on almost everything. It is my favourite nation on the planet.

I understand the idea is from a security and recognition of a person.
I think it maybe unfair to start criticising muslims and saying that it is a way of controlling women. These women are following a strict adherence to islamic dress.

 

Is this not a little dramatic comment?Not all muslims in France are "third world". Many are french born, french citizens, just like black people.

 

the veil is there so the woman don´t raise any attention of men.
it makes no sence to wear a viel in western country, because it raises attention.
Islam wants to help women with that against men flirting.
When she is wearing a veil it tells muslim men that she is untouchble.

At least in white Countries there are millions of wealthy and middle-class Black people.

Black people in muslim countries don't have shit.

Too bad muslims aren't tolerant.

You'd have to cover-up in their countries and abide by ALL their rules..regardless how important your customs are to you.

They can dish it out...but they can't take it.

 

But we are not living in a muslim country. We are living in a western country where we would like to be tolerant of all races and religions. I am just saying that I am happy to see that the white women were are tolerant - in this case, of muslims.

 

If we were living in a muslim country we'd have to abide by their laws if they offended you or not.

Muslims are a "do as I say,not as I do" type of people...especially the arabs.

 

It seems now that the French Govt will ban the veil in public instutions like university, Govt offices, - welfare, Passport etc
But women will still be able to go about their life as they wish. Some of the veiled women are converts to islam and not all radical arabs.

 

Had anyone been following the story in France about the female driver who was fined for wearing a Burka?
Later it was found that her husband also had 3 mistresses and a total of 12 children !
