Hey my man Soulthinker... So here it is...I went Big time Tourist today just for you...I was a little bit embarrassed in the middle of Japanese, American and other Europeans tourist with my camera...but hey...I promised... So I walked in and around the Quartier Latin...couldn't find the specific place where mister Wright, Himes, or even Baldwin stayed, but I took a few pics so u can see what kind of environment they lived in...then I took some more pics of a few interesting stuff in the surroundings... So, first, the "Quartier Latin" where a lot of intellectuals live in Paris...doesn't look like much outside, but apartments are very expensive here...Apartments are from the 2nd floor up and usually at the first floor it's shops, bakeries, restaurants, cafes, etc... One of those restaurants: And the "Cafe des Arts"...famously nice
Very close is the historic French University "La Sorbonne"...here is a pic...they are doing some work in the back...scrwed the pic a bit... And right on the "Place de la Sorbonne" you have another one of these "brasseries" that are quite abundant in Paris...(Brasserie = brewery...as French ppl drink beer TOO! (not just wine mes amis) And not too far, you have the "Pantheon" were the ashes of great French men and women are kept... On the front it reads (not literally) "To the great Men from the grateful homeland"
Well...this is where everthing went wrong If you're right in front of the Pantheon and you turn around, this is waht you see: So well...I had to get a little closer...and well, it ain't really Paris if you don't pay a visit to the old "radio antenna" And a little closer: And then right underneath:
And since by that time, my pride had been totally crushed, I decided to go tourist all the way and I went to "Place Saint Michel", to take a pic of something that my American friends are quite familiar with...at least, the name: Notre Dame: And I spoiled this one with a little cold me in front of the beautiful monument alright, hope you enjoyed it Soul...and all of you, folks! Flying to the US on Thursday...back to real life and hardcore molecules
You bring a lot of memories Jreminator. Paris is a wonderful city to visit. Not much had changed since my last visit in 94. I know there was a plaque that located Wright's flat but I will find it.
