For newcomers: What did I do right?

Ok...I've been lying in bed all day poking around between here and FB and Twitter (trying to get the spasms to calm down). I've noticed that a lot of people, in specific, women, who are new to this site get called out pretty quickly. Some of them calm down and join the party, some of them get huffy and leave.

When I first came here I felt like I was greeted with open arms, without suspicion, and quite warmly. While there are people here I've disagreed with vociferously (I'm looking at you, MrF), there's also been a lot of respect, discussion through disagreement, and genuine liking. I felt I like was "taken into the family" so to speak, pretty quickly.

So...I figure, I must have done *something* right when I first got here. I thought I'd open a thread so people could post the things they think newcomers should do/say etc. It's not really a "pat Pixie on the back" thread so much as it is a guide to new folk, especially to new women on the forum.

So what did I do right, or what should newcomers do to be as warmly accepted as I've been?

Be hot and post pictures seems to be the quickest and easiest way, especially for men.

Well, I'm a woman, and I posted a pic, but at 52, I can't say "hot" is the quickest descriptor for me!

Funny you should write this Pixie.

I have been noticing a rather negative vibe around here. Maybe it is just me, but this used to be a fun place where people shared opinions but were respectful of others.

I don't really find that anymore. I am not sure what it is.

I think things that have gotten some new people in trouble is to have controversial thoughts in controversial subjects - or share controversial stories about themselves right of the bat.
It really equal to going onto a room full of strangers and real life you would be met w great suspicion if you did do that. Same in here, I don't get why some people don't get that.
Some get combative and defensive when that happens and that just make things worse.

Anonymity of the internet. Some people forget that others are not or they willfully choose to pretend that everyone's a faceless "character" online and go in with the mindset that it's okay to say and do things that they might not otherwise do offline and once they encounter others who aren't "pretending" they have to save face, because they've already put themselves out there in a certain "persona". Notice how some people when they get called out like to adapt the defense of "well this site is suppose to be open minded because people here date out of their race, so you shouldn't be offended by anything I say here".

Yeah. I'd suggest also that people stay away from stereotypes. I'm shocked to see so many here. Tip to new ladies: Don't mention the cock size of your most recent black lover, or how you think all white men suck in bed. Those are racial stereotypes. If you don't want to be considered a pair of tits on legs, don't reduce men to walking cocks.

LOL I'm not sure if men are actually offended at being considered a walking cock :D

You didn't show your tits in the first 24 hours. ;) You were taken more seriously because of it. :p

Well, it has to do with the way things are going in America. Things aren't going well in the country and those problems would (logically) radiate its self here too. IMO, if times were great, things would be great on here too.

I would say that although we can do something about it, it's mostly beyond our control. Think about the news about the flash mobs throughout the country, etc because of it.

I don't know about these other women who left, every case is different, but don't question your sense of decorum, question theirs.
