i always thought NFL 2k5 was leaps and bounds ahead of Madden, which lead to EA buying up the NFL license for the following year (they knew their crown was being taken eventually). After that, no one was able to develop a competitor with officially licensed teams and NFLPA personnel, so EA had the market for themselves. Maybe if a ruling goes in favor of the gamers, we'll get other rock-solid companies in the running for the football market.

You can't blame EA for that. The NFL sold exclusivity rights to the highest bidder. EA just had the dough.

But I can blame EA for consistently putting out a shitty product year in and year out.

It took EA almost 6 years to create a NFL game that compares to NFL 2K5 which is the greatest football game of all time.

that's what a lot of people have been saying

i hope something gets done that prevents the NFL, or any entity, from selling exclusivity rights for extra money in their coffers. It REALLY hurts the consumers that are willing to put their money into great games. If they care anything about us, they'll stop with that bullshit.

could you imagine NFL2k11, or Madden for that matter, if both companies had to steadily compete against each other? You would see much more risk taking and innovation, which would lead to some really great product.
