I've heard some women express an attraction, if not outright preference, for "bigger men." There is nothing with it, but I also wonder why that is?

The popular wisdom has it that women are attracted to larger men because they're seen as more protective and/or cuddly. Perhaps but I also think it has to do with understanding how he is perceived by other women.

I believe the average wife or girlfriend would express less concern over other women taking an interest in this guy . . .

    . . . than this guy.

I have actually had women tell me I was not "FAT" enough. Or that they preferred "Teddy Bears" but these women are generally the woman I have no interested in dating at all.

I would assume they like big women for the same reason cats like Black Bull like the extra large robust, rubenesque women.

    Personal preference.

I personally (and I know I am going to get attacked for this) but I think BIG women are lazy, in that that there focus on health, and eating, and personal appearance are sub-par and sub-standard. Especially YOUNGER women. And if you can't take care of your health and appearance the the rest of you life probably suffers the same.

But I will submit this probably has more to do with my 20 years + in uniform.

......for older women, I don't have this same standard.

Some women dont look good being skinny. Just look at Barbara Starr another example would be Oprah her head is too big and it showed when she lost a lot of weight. Genetics also play a part in these weight issues. Women are less fastidious than men when it comes to physical appearance. Personally i would take a size 12 lady with an incredibly beautiful face than a size 6 lady with an average face. Women who have fat fetishes and get turned on by fattening men though have issues.

I think he is trying to discuss the difference between a healthy weight and diet vs. not working out and letting your health go.

I don't think that women get as fuzzed out about someone being heavier because society is ok with men carrying extra weight. People will be more accepting of D'Angelo letting himself go vs Kirstie Alley.

Myself I can appreciate more body types than just the totally fit. I do have a limit though. If you weigh 400 lbs and can't walk across the room or enjoy life or crush me during sex....we're off. :smt037

I don't get the more protected feeling thing women speak of from heavier men. I see it being said but I don't feel more protected by a heavier man. Maybe it has to do with my being smaller/slimmer and it isn't harder to find men bigger than me even if they are considered of average size. Maybe that is more relative to the size/height of the woman who is feeling that. Just can't say I personally relate to that thought.

Lol fat women won't even date fat men. Women in my experience tend to be a lot more shallow then men are. Short women don't date short men, women with little money aren't usually attracted to men who make little money, dark skin women usually don't go for men with dark skin, I could go on and on. Of course this only my opinion(as it applies to women in their 20s since that's my only reference point of dating).
I see a lot of women who tend to want a man who is better than them whom they want to treat them like an equal(by better I mean physically, financially, and more personable)

You have a point there, i have heard the most foul mouthed women with absolutely no CLASS say they want a man who was is gentleman had manners and class who would respect them and treat them like ladies.

LOL. he surely let himself go. as a matter of fact "let himself go" isnt fitting.

can you imagine him trying to do the video for "untitled".

anyway , women are just as superficial as men. they love to put the smoke and mirrors up that they want a meaningful relationship

I am a woman who prefers a somewhat bigger man - a few extra lbs. My age and size definitely help to define that preference. I prefer tall men after having been married to a shorter man and then dating a tall one. But I do not like skinny guys. Tall/skinny does nothing for me. And yes, as Saty mentioned in his post, I think I'm drawn to a bigger guy because of the whole protective/cuddly thing, BUT, the one guy I was with that best fit my "type" was neither protective nor cuddly! :smt102

So are you insinuating that if you were younger and skinnier your preference would have been different? I am asking because you say your age and weight defines that preference.

Whenever this topic comes up either on the man or woman said there is always an EITHER / OR conversation.

    It makes me giggle.

Yes. When I was younger, I think body type was more important to me, and most younger men were slim. I didn't know alot of big guys. As I've gotten older, looks are still important but I put more value on other qualities. And my size is a factor - like Jordan mentioned, when you're small (and I was back in the day), most guys are bigger than you! So a bigger guy makes me feel smaller. (And by bigger, I don't mean a big ol' fat guy - more like husky or stocky.)

Its all subjective, really! I'm 6'4" and I was 265ish at one point. Started running/biking, eating right and dropped under 200lbs. Women who were attracted to me at a bigger size wasn't feeling the new me. Oddly enough, I am getting hit on by more younger women (weight loss=youthful look)

    I'm 6'3", when I was married, I ballooned quickly to my heaviest.... about 230lbs. Usually I'm around 190 - 195.

Based on my experience, when I hit 230, I was living a very unhealthy life. My wife was a stay at home, so I always came home to cookies, cakes and huge meals.... and my nights and weekends were spent on the couch watching TV and playing games.

In a nutshell, heavy me was unhealthy me. Since I guess I consider myself something of an athlete, I don't think I can allow myself to be 'cuddly' again.

In the end, being healthy is more important than being cuddly. Some guys can carry a bit of weight without it affecting their health or just have a larger frame. That's what I like. ;)
