http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20070913/ts_csm/ahealthzoning I would have to call BS on this one. The government does not need to be butting their heads into my life and telling me what I can and can't eat - anymore than they already do!! Teach people to make better choices. You can go to McD's and get a parfait instead of the fries. You can eat a cheeseburger instead of a quarter-pounder. These people are not being held hostage...
I agree only because I don't like to see any agency implement zoning to limit businesses or business oppurtunities; however in south central where, according to this article fast food makes to almost half food choices as compared to the westside of LA only 12% , something should be done to counteract. Sure that happens because the westsiders know grilled is better than fried, they like tofu and bean sprouts, so kfc would not go over well. So they know better. Instead, Maybe the government could offer subsidies or tax incentives for businesses offering healthly choices in that area. State funded Grants for school programs in that area which teach and promote healtly choices at lunch and in health classes. I guess where I am going with this is that it is good that they are trying to do something, but how they are going about it is wrong.
