The dog's behavior doesn't surprise me. We used to have a dog that was half chow & half lab, & the vet told me to keep an eye on him because chows & chow mixes have a tendency to turn on you. Eventually he started acting weird...chasing the horses, barking & snapping at trees & his own shadow, etc. Then one day he went crazy & attacked one of the horses which kicked him upside his head, so I had to put him down.

The chow that tried to kill my kid was a dog he'd spent a lot of time around, & one day it just snapped; basically grabbing my son by his face & body slamming him then shaking him like a rag doll. The neighbors son was trying to help my son (which could've gotten him hurt too), & the first time my son got loose the dog latched onto his arm & dragged him back. The second time, the dog latched onto his leg...it was insane. The owners were pissed off about the whole thing, like it was my son's fault. It could've just as easily been their kid it happened to. The city picked him up & put the dog down. I'm scared to death of chows.

Thanks for being a responsible owner too, JC.

This was my first thought. I've never heard of a rottweiler being a service dog. Smells like bullshit to me...

I used to be terrified of dogs as a kid. Like, I would scream if one came near me, no matter how small or innocent it may have been lol. I do like dogs now, but I'm still pretty picky about the ones I like. Not every dog passes the test :p But I've never met a rottweiler I've liked.

The kids say hi! ;) lol

Rottweilers and pit bulls both get a bad rap...and it's frustrating. I know some really wonderful pit bulls that are SO sweet. People automatically assume they're evil- however, you never know what will set an animal off, so I do make an effort to steer clear until there's an owner present. A couple of people around here have pit bulls and a rottweiler that are on chains and can wander up to the sidewalk when you're walking by, and that bothers me!

And having a special needs dog that is partially blind (he can see light and shadows, but that's it), I'm definitely more aware as an owner that he could snap. He has nipped a few people because he freaks when he can't see you- frankly, I would, too if I didn't know who was coming towards me- but that doesn't excuse it if he bites someone.

It's too bad. I feel bad for that little girl.

LOL. He loves you, too. :)

He's actually right next to me at the moment- making eyes because I have to go to work...dammit!!

Yeah, Amos, the one on the left has issues. He will bark his face off when you first come in, but after that he just wants you to love him. Poor sweetheart. His old owners just moved away and left him in the house to die. It hurts my heart just thinking about it.
