MANCHESTER, Conn. (Aug. 4) -- Omar Thornton sat calmly in a meeting with union representative and his supervisors as they showed a video of him stealing beer from the distributor where he worked.

Busted, he didn't put up a fight, company officials said. He quietly signed a letter of resignation and was headed for the door when he pulled out a gun and started firing - "cold as ice," as one survivor described it.

 

SO every Black person who experiences racism at the work-place is entitled to blaze their fellow employees??

Dude got caught stealing brew from a beer distributorship where he was employed, was given the OPTION of being fired or quitting(!!), and bruh man rewarded their generous offer by coming back on the premises with a piece and going Rambo.:smt068

Your right there is alot of racism in the workplace. If he did steal the beer how did that help his agenda. Sometimes you gotta eat s##t in this world.

 

There really needs to be more study on this. We have had too many cases where someone goes crazy and shoots up their work place. The last popular one was who Amy bishop. They need to be able to tell the signs. It can't be based on race and gender because we had amy bishop at UA. It has to be something.

 

I don't understand where the racism is. He didn't go through any routes of filing for racism. All we have is someone "saying" that he said that.

That's a pretty couple. I don't know who to believe even though I am inclined to believe the guy who shot the place. Men who shoot out their place of employment are sometimes victims of mistreatment(possibly women too).

 

Whether they've been mistreated or not, it doesn't give them the right to start shooting up the place.

This shit has to stop. It's crazy.

 

I very much agree. if he was being racially harassed then it should have been stopped. This could have all been done peacefully.

 

There's a lot of ifs to this story. Who knows if he was or not. I can't imagine the union would put up with it. And allegedly, one of the union guys who was killed was fighting to let that guy keep his job even though he was caught stealing on video.

This situation is just crazy.

 

I agree. I knew this story would be here cause he was with WW. Didn't the girlfriend say that he didn't drink, so why would he steal? I understand how when you're bullied/tormented that you want to off folks, but that doesn't mean you should act on it.

 

Racism may/may not have played a part in this incident. I do understand where he is coming from though. When a person keeps throwing insults, and you don't defend yourself, you are bound to blow off all the steam you've kept under wraps. Instead of going on a rampage though, he should have stuck up for himself, and filed lawsuit if need be. Racism still exists in the work place, but bringing a gun to shoot your cowokers up is just not the way to go...

There was a similar case concerning an Asian American doctor who went on a similar rampage.

What irritates me though that are still so many ignorant/racist people out here in this world. People of all colors (Black, white, Asian, spanish, Indian, Yellow, Green) need to educate themselves. Racism needs to stop, this is the year 2010. Looking stupid is just not the way to go...

Morality aside...

...I think this will have a positive impact on racism in the workplace. Nooses in the bathroom and hangman's drawn on the mirror is something we've heard in many lawsuits in the past -- but lawsuits go after the bosses.

The average racist worker, however, is less likely to eagerly draw slurs on the wall now that they have something to fear, I think.

Not saying the guy was right, just that there may be a silver lining to this all.

I don't think so. There is no recorded proof of him going violent. Look at the amy bishop case. She shot her brother and made a scene at IHOP.

I would need to see more evidence before stating that he is chemicallyh unbalanced. I would agree with amy bishop though.

 

His girlfriend said he took photos of graffiti drawn by workers. I sense a coverup since that recording of the 911 call of a worker saying the shooter was the only Black person in the place. Case in point the person whom the brother sold the beer to. I have not seen anything like that before when a investigation goes at lighting speed to cover that racism claim.

 

I heard on a clip that there is a white male serial killer who is slaying black men. What the hell is going on. We need a beer summit between the races to stop this thing before we end up with a race war.

 

That White male will not get a lot of press.

 

Are you hearing white racists groups looking at the Flint, Michigan case of the white male who is slaughtering black males as the coming payback for interracial crimes from "black animals" as they are calling blacks. What in the hell going on?
