According to some people, it's been foretold in the Bible that the End of Days will be May 21, 2011. I skimmed the article, but thought it would be a good topic on the forum since we're a pretty diverse group in our religious beliefs and in some cases non-beliefs.

What do you all think? Stuff like this fascinates me.

    Oh, don't make me laugh!

We know that the next time if Jesus appears here on the earth, it's end of days for all of us. So only God knows which the day that mankind will have its last days.

"But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." per Jesus in Matthew 24:36

People seemingly have this fascination with "epic scopes and scales" regarding the end of the world. Yearning for death through eschatology and epistemological means, sentient beings no longer hold a strong grasp in the tides of reality. For us to see our collective end, we draw ourselves to an illusionary dance and spin our existence into a wayward end.

2011...2012...all bears no true meaning except those who embrace numerology. Furthermore, seeking a means of end through "holy guides" only grant us a woeful false sense of hope and faith. To die is to no longer exist. To end is when our collective selves diminish from existence. Truth be told, the only end is with you, should your minds drown in the auspices of belief.

    (Translation)

The world will come to an end, but it's unlikely that it will end in 2012. These apocalyptic bearings based on certain coincidental moments and events, holds little value, be it from a religious text or otherwise. The world will only end around this time if you kill yourself by accident.

How will we die? The most likely scenario would be an asteroid, meteor or even the sun exploding near us, causing the magnetic field to break and ultimately cause severe radiation of the skin to where the planet cannot sustain itself or withstand the intense heat of that shining star.

I'd say the human population will never truly die out. We have enough intelligent life to prevent that.
I do agree with you though, knowing the specific end to everything is a myth.

Put it this way, if the end of days comes, at least I don't have to worry about someone abusing my credit...

I think it's more likely that a virus will end most of humanity over an asteroid or meteor.

I don't think intelligent life has anything to do with whether or not humans will ever truly die out. I think it has to do with our bodies and how they handle viruses.

Even the deadliest virus known to man (Ebola) "only" kills 9 out of 10 of its victims. I think even with superbugs, there will always be a small percentage of people who will be immune to it.

I think being intelligent allows you to avoid certain areas and certain people. We can adapt which aides in our survival.

I wouldn't really count on it. Yes, we are an arrogant race of creatures in the animal kingdom, so the human population won't die out completely. However, a good chunk of the population can die altogether though

A virus could be one case, which may result in some form of conspiracy theory idea - population control (which I favor). You could also say that humans exhaust the planet of its resources and with a growing population, the planet could "die", thus resulting in finding new means of life either on another planet that is inhabitable or change our way of life. Any scenario can happen as opposed to some of the more mystical things people favor or cater to.

Alot of stuff for End of days coming up around now.

You got the good ole bible.
    The Summerian prophecy.
    Nostradamus.

I have a very mild religious background and a certain amount of belief but in no way do I think that any planet extinction would be done by the hand of god.

I must admit though that the whole planet X thing had me slightly concerned, I had to cut myself off from reading about it.
Apparently its orbit is thought to be much slower and does a full circuit once every 3,000 years.
Apparently it is having an affect on Pluto blah blah.

Anyway it inflamed my sense of imagination so I stopped reading about it. :smt023

Soooo....... as to me thinking is the end of days coming? I don't know...maybe...but then again maybe not.
Without knowing whats coming there is no way to prepare for it.

    end of days

Maybe if as St paul says in Hebrews chapter 11 verse 6 It is impossible to please God without faith, then the coming of the Lord and the end of days depends on the faith of believers, and remember Meshach, Shadrach and Abed nego, in Daniel they were thrown into the furnace but the fire didnt harm them
because the Lord was with them. Jesus is coming to Judge the ungodly not those who are His, Those who belong to him are not under judgment.

Isaac Newton (Author) worth a look you just cant dismiss this guy as a crank can you?
