Are you among the 2% of the most intelligent people in the world? Don't guess, you only have 10% chance to get it right like that.
There is no trick here, this question can be solved simply by common sense and pure logic.
Good luck and don't give up - have fun with it!
    1. There are 5 houses. All of them are of a different colour.
    2. In each house lives a man, all of them are different nationality.
    3. The owner of each house prefers a particular drink, a particular brand of cigarettes and owns a pet.
    4. NONE of these people drinks the same drink, smokes same cigarettes or has same kind of pets.

The question is: WHO OWNS A FISH?

Here are the facts you know:
    - the British lives in the red house
    - the Swedish has a dog
    - the German smokes Rothmanns
    - the Norvegian lives in the first house
    - the person who lives in the green house, drinks coffee
    - the person who smokes Winfields, likes to drink beer
    - the person who lives in the yellow house, smokes Dunhills
    - the person who smokes Pall Mall, has a parrot
    - the person who lives in the middle house, drinks milk
    - the person who smokes Marlboroughs, lives next to the cat owner
    - the person who has a horse, lives next to the person, who smokes Dunhills
    - the Norvegian lives next to the blue house
    - the person who smokes Marlboroughs, lives next to the person who drinks water
    - the green house is next to the white house to the left
Einstein made this riddle in the last century. He said that 98% of all people are unable to solve it.
    Enjoy!

I tried to sit on that issue for a good hour or two but totally not sure on the result.Lol

The important thing is to not stop questioning.

I guess the solution is no solution, since there is no real hint.

Ot the German... because he has not mention an animal... but that is just guessing.

Thanks for the mental exercise BYT86. I worked it out on paper and it is the German guy who owns the fish.

There are 5 houses, 5 men and 5 pets, though. And only 4 people (and 4 pets) are mentioned. So who lives in the 5th house?

My guess is, the man in the 5th house owns the fish.

About 15 mins. I used Illustrator to draw a diagram with the 5 houses and then once I had them in order I started adding the info that I knew under each one. I'm very visual, I would have never been able to just do it in my head.

I madea 5 columd grid (which is pretty much the same as espy did).. I think it took me about 25 minutes - but I was wathing chimps in space:)
A little organization and it should be fairly easy to solve, I dont buy that only 2 % can do it.. Im dumber than a bag of hammers:)

Yeah right, like I'm buying that. But I do agree with you that it must be higher than 2% that can figure it out. It's basic logic, you just have to think it through.

I doubt its Einsteins riddle:p though google says otherwise

I took about 9 minutes. I needed a pen and a paper but according to my illustration the Norwegian owns the fish. The German owns the cat.

    House 1
    Yellow
    Dunhills
    Norwegian
    Fish

    House 2
    Blue
    Winfields
    horse
    beer

    House 3
    Red
    Pallwell
    Brit
    Parrot
    Milk

    House 4
    Green
    Coffee
    Swedish
    Dog
    Malboro

    House 5
    White
    German
    Rothmans
    Cat
    Water

According to the conditions you have specified above. this is also a potential solution. Prove me wrong.

    Note to Everyone...

Einstein's wife is the one who actually deserves all the credit.

If you solve this "logically" you should come to the conclusion that the German, living in the green house, owns the fish. But that answer is based on an assumption, and not facts, since it's nowhere mentioned that the fifth pet is a fish. That's only mentioned in the question, not the facts. The fifth pet might as well be a hamster, or anything at all. Wasn't Einstein the one who said "the important thing is to never stop questioning"?

It was actually his wife who said it. Einstein just took credit for it because "Oh well, it's unheard of for women to be that damn smart."
