What a surprise? Everytime a country is in crap shape. They blame the easiest targets. Eastern Europe isn't a place you won't to go to without knowing anyone. The last time I went there was with armed body guards. And my client wanted to get the hell out of there. So I don't really do business in Eastern Europe.

You got to know people well over there to be safe in those Eastern European states.

There must be a ton of damn good reasons why I keep reading/hearing nothing but horrific news about Eastern Europe, and Russia just goes without saying (yet again, again, and yes, again).

I honestly don't know what, or why, you guys are talking about. Throughout my one year relationship with my black boyfriend, he came to Romania, East European country, many times, last being May this year, and we went out EVERYWHERE, restaurants, cinema, clubs, pubs, hotels, walking on the street, and nothing even close to dangerous ever happened to him, or us, unless you count a few old ladies's schocked faces as dangerous.

Outsiders who don't know enough about Eastern Europe, make it seem like one big scary place. Just like Africa. I don't know much about Romania but I know that for one it's nothing like Russia, it's not Slavic, and the only thing it has to do with Russia is formerly being part of the Socialist block. I guess a lingering allergy to everything Russian and maybe some nostalgia on the part of the older generation, is the only remnant of that era in today's Romania... correct me if I'm wrong.

You're actually right, it's not Slavic but a latin country and language, very much like Italian, Spanish and French. We're descendents of romans from the Roman Empire who mixed with the people who were originally here, called Daci, and it used to be part of the Socialist block and thus communist till 1989, but I wouldn't say Romanians have allergy to everything Russian, they just have an allergy to communism :)

And true again, the only reminescence of that era is that some peeps of the older generation have a nostalgia for the ''good ol' times" when everybody earned the same salary as opposed to now when the social assistence system is very scarce and their pensions are miserable. Other than that it's very "modern" and as I said before, a very safe country.

    You're so well informed :smt038

Also the dictator who ruled Romania sided with the West more like Yugoslavia than the Soviet Union. Also most Black men had not known any Romanians. However, things can change.

No, not yet Communist! Socialist! Socialism is the first stage of Communism. Socialism: from everyone according to their ability, to each according to their labour. Communism: from everyone according to their talent, to everyone according to their need! (See how much I remember from my Moscow school?)

I don't know if you're interested in politics at all but my family was very involved in the struggle, so I remember all the pre-1991 demonstrations that I went to with my mom, and elections and being out in the streets in August of '91. We have the same situation now, social assistance is scarce, a lot of elderly are poorer than they would have been before, and a lot of people are disappointed in "the democrats", which is very sad because I remember all the euphoria and high hopes in 1991.

Huh? Well I am not very interested in politics because I kinda resent it for all the corruption and exploitation that goes with it , and since I was a kid when the revolution took place, I was just happy to grow up in democracy.

Thanks for schooling me though Mos. As I see your peeps experiences have been very similar to mine, all that euphoria and people dead for a cause that ended up not being so great as they expected. What can you do, with eveything you do there come good and bad consequences, and I clearly say it was worth it!

So I'm impressed, you and your family were very courageous to participate in the middle of the events ! I mean, WOW !

This thread is about Russia, and there are already several topics posted in the forums about black men traveling to Russia similar to this one. This isn't about Romania.

And, again, we are mainly talking about Russia, and no one has mentioned Romania at all. There are places in Eastern Europe that are very racist towards black men like Spain and Italy, but that doesn't mean we are talking about all of Eastern Europe, and like I already said, Russia goes without saying.

Eastern Europe was mentioned a lot. Kill me for trying to clarify to the people how things are in some of the Eastern European countries why don't you?

and what do Spain and Italy have to do with EASTERN Europe?

I wasn't 'killing you' at all. I just responded to what you posted. Spain and Italy are racist like certain parts of Eastern Europe, and this thread isn't about Eastern Europe, like I said. I just mentioned Eastern Europe because a lot of talk about black men traveling to racist countries in these forums is about Eastern Europe.

How dare you tell me what I can post and what not like that? You have a nerve, when you are known for hi-jacking 178364187356 threads, and this wasn't even hi - jacking, as the topic turned from Russia to Eastern Europe and Romania is Eastern European.

And on top of that, when someone is educating me, I and any other people would say thanks.
You have a problem with me? You attacked me from my very first posts in here when I was just having a talk with other posters neither of them feeling offended only you picking on me. Well too bad as you are not gonna get the satisffaction of me leaving here !

What the hell is this??? When did I tell you what you could and could not post??? And, as for me hi-jacking threads, well, you're no better, since you also have a tendency to do that YOURSELF, and all of that other stuff is just YOU being paranoid and defensive with me again. I never attacked you at anytime for any reason. You just took it that way for whatever reason, like you're doing right now.

Yeah thats your style allright. Quick attack and then being defensive and not admiting anything. On top of that, you did it AGAIN, now I'm paranoid AND defensive for being bothered that you act like you're my boss or the boss on this forum and telling me the thread wasn't about Romania like I need YOU to tell me that, I don't know it myself, and I shouldn't post if it's not about Romania  Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaseeeeeee

and I take things that way for "whatever reason"? What whatever reason Sardonic, when you are the one periodically on my back picking on something I said? Do you need more clues than that? You are the reason !

OK, sardonic- if you are going to criticise, please get it right. Are you saying Spain and Italy are part of Eastern Europe?...You aren't, are you? Maybe you meant that in your original post but have seen the error.

I'm Aussie, but also as a Slav, my background being the Eastern Europe state of Serbia, I gotta represent for us here (no, not Russia, but Eastern Europe generally)

I recognise there have been a number of violent attacks in Russia, but I also belive a 'big bad bogeymen' attitude exists and I think the subject heading, whilst catchy is unecessarily inflammatory.

American brothas I don';t know much about, having never dated one myself, but I think you will find many young Eastern european women are actually down with the brothas.

You can even notice it by some of the gals on this forum- we are representing, ahahahha.

Sometimes they find their attitudes and values complement and fit nicely with some of the values that can run across a number of some of the countless African cultures and value systems.

    Europe's where it's at ;)

Oh, please. You jumped all over me and then called me attacking you, and not admitting anything, and now you're just repeating yourself, and I don't act like anyone's boss in here, but if you felt that way, then that's YOUR problem and not mine...

and, as for periodically this and that, well, as far as I know, I hardly ever bother you about most of your posts in here, and most of the time, you either say something similar to what I said, and then react this way to what I say, but at the same time, seem to be agreeing with me, so if I'm the reason, then you need to examine YOUR OWN reasonings for me being the reason about something I'm not to blame for, other than wasting my time arguing with YOU.

If Europe is 'where is at', then the same can be said about anywhere else, and since Eastern Europe isn't the only place in Europe that's racist, I mentioned Spain and Italy, and no matter where black men go, there will always be women who are 'down with the brothas' but that doesn't guarantee their safety while traveling there.
