Does it bother you when the person you are dealing with hides they like people of the opposite color

How about some Bavarian beer. Cheap and people seem to like it.

Penedes
Calatayud
Albarino

Any red wine from any of those regions will be good and they are inexpensive.

You can go to total wine, find the section for Portugal, and you're good to go.

Portuguese wines are good.

 

I would give it a try. Best beer from Europe I've had so far I think was from Belgium called "flat tire."

Try ALDI. They stock German beer and other types of alcohol. Last Christmas I bought some Gluhwein.
