I don't know about endangered species but you are under very very very high resolution microscope when you are a young black male MD.

 

I can count on my fingers, the amount of physicians i've seen at my hospital, that were black...

that's just from my experience tho..

then you have a guy like this, with a solid chance to do something positive, within the area of science and modern medicine, and voila "the black man stole the watch officer" comes up.
