Disabling the touchy feely thing on a laptop that moves the cursor/arrow thing.

How do you do it? It's really getting on my nerves. I have a wireless mouse (it's metallic pink :D and black) and so I don't need that thing you touch on the laptop that moves the cursor/arrow. I was told it can be disabled. I want to because I'll be typing away and then all of a sudden my thumb will accidently touch it/run over it then my cursor ends up somewhere it's not supposed to be and I'll start typing there instead until I realize what happened and it's really irritating. Help. Thanks.

Do you have Vista or Windows XP maybe?

Well, I see a little sticker that says Windows 7.

    Try this:

    1. Click on Start.

    2. Go to Control Panel.

    3. In the search box, type mouse, and then click Mouse.

    4. Click the device settings tab, and click disable.

I have Vista, so I'm not sure this is accurate for Windows 7, but it should at least get you to the right spot.

I got all the way through 3. I see an option that says "Change mouse settings" and I clicked on it, but it was for a regular mouse, not the "pad" thing on the keyboard. Is that called something different?

It's the touchpad, or pointing device.

There isn't a settings tab. There's "Pointers" "Pointer Options" "Wheel" and "Hardware"

I'm guessing that's what you mean, heh.

When I click on anything to do with pointers it's talking about the arrows and what they look like. Nothing about the touchpad.

Okay, do you have a button that looks like this at the top of your keyboard, by the power button maybe?

That should turn your touchpad on and off.

Yes! Exactly like that. Do I push it? Yes, I like to ask obvious questions.

Yes, once will turn it off. If you ever want to turn it back on just hit it again.

Oh and I somehow missed when you said, "That should turn your touchpad on and off."

Yeah, that's it, heh. I'm sleepy. My eyes are kind of burning from sleepiness. I usually stay up past 5AM, but I had to wake up early this morning/last morning.

Happens to me too. I get a little deficient when I'm really tired. People find that amusing for some reason.
