    BigBrotherWise,

They prefer the African over the Black-American. But many will do not mind what black man they get, unless they crossover to the US, then they want African like the ones I met.

Ive never heard of any German woman prefering African men over African American men.. thats bs.

If anything here they prefer African American over African... they are always like "oh wow ur American"

But half the time German women cant tell you are African or African American until you open ur mouth and they hear the accent.

Im so glad ive come here that i can really tell the truth about what goes on in Germany.

Yeah. thanks for coming here. Infact I hope to make contact with you via e-mail or something because pretty much i need to hear the amrican BM perspective/experience in germany.

i'm learning the german language and i'm enjoying the process, my dream is to direct my career to germany and live there one day.

i see so many brothers who have made it to the promised land and have a smile on their faces, while i'm still on the other side of the fence.

but its really mostly about awareness more than anything.

thanks for coming here and sharing info.

DUDE German women like black men period, its normally American women who like African American men over African men due to stereotypes in the media. German women don't really mind if you from Africa or not, once you are black and they like you the rest pales into insignificance.

I am going to do a little syllogism here , German women like African men and you are German (in a way cuz you were born there) so you like African men .
So do you like African men?

I like BM. So I guess that is a yes. I dont care if he is Brit-African, USA-African or whatever. In all honesty havent met a BM who isnt one of the two since living in London and in Aus we dont have a large black population, more Indian, Asian and European....

well austria is not far and we speak german as well.
someone mentioned africans vs african american. in germany and austria as well as in other countries in europe african AMERICANS are preferred.
Someone asked in a topic once about Europeans liking what kind of bm and what we are thinking of bm generally in Europe. I was about to answer how many people here feel. They are open towards bm but there are also different groups of bm. Of course it is preferred to see someone that is educated and world interested, very west-oriented. We have places where you try to catch a bus and you will get literally annoyed by bm trying to be your friend. They don´t understand NO. Their German is rather bad and most of them are from Nigeria. I believe because of these little groups most people just feel as if they are just not as welcome.

Would they be less annoying if they were African AMERICANS and spoke bad German and wouldn't accept NO as an answer?

Avia. i recently saw this 90 min presentation about black people and germany and history of us in that country.

    http://forum-network.org/lecture/being-black-germany

and after hearing positive things about Germany, and the fact that there is some prosperity there and seeing this presentation, i felt inspired.

    what do you think?

I wish I could watch it but the sound card on my computer is currently not working. I just have not had the time to get that fixed since I am in the middle of renovations. I am looking forward to watching it!

You know I don´t care where someone comes from.
I try to explain the situation over here.
I believe it is the mentality, it is just different than the western ones.
Sure, that guy would be annoying as well.
What we see here a lot are African Americans coming to our country to go to school or because they got married and moved here or because they opened their own business etc. They dress/talk/act the same as we do.
Now, if someone comes from another mentality I think the issue a lot of people have is "not understanding where they come from/ not understanding why they act a certain way". That is the issue most of the time, isn´t it?

Then there is also another issue, there are always groups in countries that are not as respected as others. That is because of what people get to see in their daily life. In America Mexicans are people that jump over the fence and take away jobs. Here, we don´t care about Mexicans. Of course, people that think like that are ignorant but a lot of people think in stereotypes (yuck).
So, when we see those little groups of people from deep Africa, Nigeria etc.. then we just know what we have seen. People on the bus stop that don´t understand a NO.

I'd like to second that. I don't think African American men are necessarily preferred over African men. That doesn't sound like the "truth about Germany" to me, and I live here as well.

there was a german tv film called "Neger Neger Sconstienfeger" that is based on this book here.

its about a mixed race afro-german boy who grew up in WWII nazi germany. very fascinating story. the movie is basically about a german woman struggling to raise her bi-racial son during the tough times of World War II.

    very touching story.

you don't have explain yourself. i think he just took what you said the wrong way because of his background. i think most of us here understand what you are saying. its all good.

you are just being brutally honest. i guess in your country it would be "nien - danke" not a "no thanks."

as far as similarities like you meant and the fact that germany and i guess austria too has some prosperity, and that some of the euro countries are becoming more westernized, i can see how there would be a slight preference for african-american vs. african.

but alot of africans defy the sterotypes and get offended slightly when people generalize about them. But then sometimes we have to be brutally honest about .how things are.

I am burning to watch that movie!
My boyfriend will be here August 1st, maybe we can watch it together.
I want to know a lot about black peoples´history- in the United States and in Europe. It is very important to me. I am honest, that is me :) I won´t lie.
i have actually seen this movie when i was younger- before i was with a bm.. now that i am i have a whole different connection to the whole topic and will definitely watch it again. i think i must have been about 17 when i saw it.

the only problem is there aren't any english subs for it online and i don't think the german dvd has an english subtitle track for it. and the dailymotion links only have 7 parts of the 20 pieces of the movie.

so unless you bf knows fluent german. he will get alittle frustrated. as he won't understand what people are saying.

yeah. when i first saw it, i couldn't understand because there really aren't any subtitles for it, i can understand some things but i'm not fluent yet.

me personally, i found the film fascinating. why? because i come from a world full of racial tension and so on.

vs. this is a german-african mixed race family that struggle thru the hard times, but the never give up and the love gets them thru the war and so on. the father of the little boy was an aweful man though.

the other side this is what the real people on which this film is based look like.

    http://www.bruecken-der-hoffnung.de/Vortraege/JazzundMR/MedienJazzundMR/Fotos-Jazz/Hans-Massaquoi-and-Parents-.jpg

his real mother wasn't the pretty woman that we see on the dvd cover, but i'm sure his mother was the same in character.

there is a happy ending. but one thing that this bi racial family doesn't have an issue with is race so much. the love and the passion this woman has for son shows a great deal.

in the documentary "being black in germany" i linked the presenter talks about the film and that he has actually met the man from which the book and movie is based.

here is more info about Black GI soldiers in Germany.

Wow i remember Jorg Haider speaking like that in a youtube video, well avia maybe if you get past stereotyping mexicans and africans you might see a whole new side of them' i understand its your prefernce to like african american men but when you add reasons like jumping over the fence and deep africa its funny as hell i laughed very hard.

So am i to say a few african american men defy the stereotype but i should be brutally honest and say you probably have been to jail 5 times , hustled on the street and has 7 baby mamas and probably dropped out of high school? bruh:cool:
