Complexion has always been a fascinating topic for me. I've always wondered why so many black people felt it was important to be light skinned or keep their skin from getting dark. No offense to my light skinned bruhs because I got nothing but love for ya'll. I just wanted to celebrate the dark skinned brothers because we barely get any love. And I just wanted to say I'm damn proud of my skin color.

Growing up down south I must say it was pretty tough being my skin color. I was really dark because I was constantly outside playing sports under that fierce Louisiana sun. I remember plenty times running inside or coming home from school crying to my grandmaw because somebody started making fun of me for being dark. It might sound a bit Disney Movie-ish but she used to always tell me. "Justin you are dark skinned, but that don't stop you from bein the cutest lil boy around here, Tell those n*****s to kiss your extra dark ass." Lol that always made me laugh.

So anyways once I heard that enough I started being proud to be me. Even though my Maw Maw is no longer with me I still carry those words with me. Does anybody else have any experiences with this? Are there any women in here that consider themselves a fan of the dark skinned brothers? Also feel free to post pics of yourself or your favorite dark chocolate brother. It's all about celebrating the black.. yadig?:smt038

I'll probably be the only person to post photos. But I got to show them how dark and sexy goes hand in hand.

By the way listen to this song in the background to get a full effect of the thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qMd63FiW9Q

Actually, we talk about how hot we think dark skinded guys are around here so much I think it's bothered the light skinded guys...

I definitely have a weak spot for darker guys.

Proof. hah. That's a crappy picture of me and my boyfriend.

Denzel will always be #1 sexiest man for me. His dark skin is only one of the many things I find sexy about this man.

Damn StandUp, you are hot. I love your hair and your jacket. We probably like Chelsea for different reasons, you like their football playing, I like the sexy guys playing football.

    Dark skinned guys = :smt055

I seriously never knew until I read this forum that being dark skinned as opposed to light skinned (for black people) was a bad thing. All the black guys I know are dark anyway as they're mostly Nigerian or Ghanaian. My ex was Nigerian and really dark skinned.

Sarah loves the dark skinned brothers.

This is hilarious. Dark skin bruhs never went out of style. Look at Akon or Taye. Or deep brown-skinned cats like Morris Chestnut or Denzel or Tupac. Wesley may be a has-been now but he was that guy back in the day

If anybody's out of style it's the hi-yella with wavy hair. I haven't seen one since the old New Jack days of Al B. Sure and Christopher Williams (younguns need to Google them).

Naw, bruh. Hi-yellow brothas haven't gone anywhere either.

    Neither of them have!

None of that shit goes in or out of style.

Hip-hop put the dark skinned BM at the top.

50 Cent lookin Brothers were called monkeys and gorillas before Hip Hop.

They try to deny it but it's true.

    Mothers would tell their daughters..

"Don't you come home with no monkey-lookin' nigga..you get somebody that can give you some pretty children"

Light-skinned Blacks were marrying their cousins to keep from getting dark.

    Rap killed that weird-ass bullshit.

Before Hip hop you would NEVER....EVER.....EVER....See a Brother that looks like Jay-Z with a Sister that looks like Beyonce.

Sisters like Beyonce were reserved for non-Black men and mulattos.

Only Brothers with green eyes and hair like a pekingese could catch a Beyonce-type sister.

Without Hip hop we'd be a bunch of inbred coon-asses.

Jay Z isn't particularly dark, just ugly like rappers in general.

Regardless of where you sit along the color spectrum, handsome is handsome and women will let you know if you are that or not.
