Good on Dwayne. Very sweet thing for him to do. And her original prom date is a cutie and a real sport. But wow, they sure both look waay more mature than 17, 18. Crazy.
Prom is supposed to be a celebration and a 'rite of passage' as kids move on from High School to the next stage in their life as adults. Not another publicity opportunity for a celeb. Let these kids have their moment to themselves. Want to do something good? Go with the not-so-popular kid who was constantly bullied. You know, the overweight kid in the wheelchair who tried to kill themselves mid-way through their junior year. Not with the hottest girl in the school who already declined 20-something invites from guys who, after 4 years of classes with this girl, finally managed to build up the courage to ask her out. *** This message was brought to you by the neighborhood grouch ***
You make a good point. It did occur to me to wonder if her pretty looks had anything to do with his motivation to notice her and to turn up. But a bullied kid or overweight disables teen?...wow great suggestion... it would take them quite far in terms of relief from being targets.
Of course it did. But to answer Jaisee, yes, it would've been far better to go with the overweight/unpopular/bullied teen - if she had asked. We don't know if anyone else put that request out there. This girl did. But I do believe she got the attention she got because she's very attractive.
I agree, there was story just like this except it was a football player who took this chubby girl to the prom. That was worth praise, this is just Wade picking up a barely legal chick. If I was the father I wouldn't let that happen at all.
I think the person your referring to is trent richardson. He now plays for the cleveland browns but was still in school at alabama at the time. Please tell me d-wade at least had pants on that actually touched the top of his shoes
Question, when was the last time any of you guys passed up a good looking, attractive girl to take the unpopular, big girl on a date??? I think we all know that answer one. D Wade just did what all of us would have done put in the same situation.
Answer, most of us will never be in a position where someone is making a youtube video asking us to their prom. We are not celebs and the we have no need to make ridiculous appearances at a senior prom to increase our public image. Truth be told, my main issue with this is that prom is just a ridiculous place for celebs to make publicity appearances. Our societies obsession with celebs is out of control. ... actually, I take that back. I think I'm going to invite Kreayshawn to my grandma's funeral.
I would take the unpopular chick If I was rich and famous, it's just prom it's not like I'm going to try and hit it. That girl makes me ashamed to come from the East Bay sometimes.
As someone who's been picked on and bullied quite a bit growing up, theirs always a soft spot in my heart for those less fortunate than others in whatever way. So since dudes think all your weightlifting makes you mannish, I have no problem escorting you to whatever gala to show them what a real man looks like. ;-)
Hey, it's only one person who ever said something stupid like that and he doesn't count. I look like a damn goddess in an evening gown  Who would have thought that YOU actually have a soft spot?!
