Report: Cowboys cutting T.O. IRVING, Texas (AP)—Terrell Owens’ days in Dallas are done, according to ESPN. ESPN cited anonymous sources Wednesday night in saying that the Cowboys have decided to cut the receiver, ridding them of a big locker-room distraction but also absorbing a big hit on their salary cap. The team did not immediately have a comment. A spokesman for Owens said he hadn’t heard the news, and that Owens was traveling and could not immediately be reached. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, also did not immediately return a call. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-cowboys-tocut&prov=ap&type=lgns
I HATE the cowboys, but maybe now this will cut down on the time spent talking about them on various sports news programs...yay!
I pity the team that picks him up. On second thought, I pity the players and fans, but the owner or GM who signs him will get exactly what they deserve.
this is a sad day in Cowboy history..he was one of our most popular players..and until Michael Vick and Plexico..he was one of the most visible players outside the sport....he transcended football.
T.O might as well retire, but i guarantee you he won't. Despite all this teams acting up, there are a number of squads that won't mind taking him on board, such as the Jags, Raiders and Ravens. All three teams don't have one solid WR and when it's all said and done, T.O is still among the best receivers in the game, alongside Moss and Fitzgerald. T.O ain't done yet.
I told everyone who would listen back in 2006 that this was gonna happen. Now y'all see why Parcells got the hell up outta there because even he saw a ticking time-bomb waiting to go off. I told everybody that this was gonna be the EXACT same thing that went down in both San Fran and Philly. I'm laughing my ass off too.:smt043 I love it when I'm right.:smt045
I don't think anyone didn't see this coming. It was just a matter of time. His chances for a ring are diminishing, and that is probably the only thing that will assure him a place in the Hall of Fame. I am sure he is looking to jump on a superbowl bound train. Good luck with that.
Not really an NFL fan, but I'd like to see T.O., Michael Vick, and Pacman Jones all on the same squad.
Perhaps but Oakland isn't ready for the dance and T.O. wants a ring. He's too old to be taking on the project of making the Raiders playoff ready, let alone Super Bowl contenders.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090308/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_bills_owens 1st small market team for him. Could be what he needs (less media attention), or maybe he will be starved for attention.
The same stuff will likely happen, T.O. throw the QB under the bus (in this case, Trent Edwards or JP Losman), complaining that he doesn't get the ball enough, and he won't; Evans is the main receiver on the team.
My man's career is done...hopefully, he can just make his $6M and stay quiet without making too much noise. At 35, no ones gonna put him with a contender...not that he doesn't have the skill..its his attitude. this shit is heart-breaking.
itz not the age thing...T.O. is one of the most physically conditioned athletes in the league...itz just he won't get that long term contract anymore 'cos of his age...thatand his attitude. Mr. Rice was on a contending team (Raiders) along with Tim Brown with him he shared recieving duties with. There's nothing competitive about Buffalo.
