CHICAGO – Just days ago, Rahm Emanuel seemed to be steamrolling the entire field of candidates for Chicago mayor. He had millions in the bank, a huge lead in the polls and abundant opportunities to show off his influence, including a meeting with the visiting Chinese president.

But on Monday, the former White House chief of staff was waging a desperate bid to keep his campaign alive after an Illinois appeals court kicked him off the ballot for not meeting a residency requirement. The surprise decision threw the race into disarray with less than a month to go.

Emanuel's lawyers quickly sought help from the Illinois Supreme Court, asking the justices to stop the appellate ruling and to hear an appeal as soon as possible. But time was running short, since the Chicago Board of Elections planned to begin printing ballots without Emanuel's name within days.

"I have no doubt that we will in the end prevail at this effort. This is just one turn in the road," Emanuel said, adding that the "people of the city of Chicago deserve the right to make the decision on who they want to be their next mayor."

Well does this mean a rich, pompous, conniving, very well connected Politician will not be the Mayor of Windy city? I doubt it, he is a very well connected Israeli Jew to be thrown out like that. Like he said he will prevail, another great American Justice served.

Drunk it up like koolaid, lol.

So, tell me...what exactly is the relationship between black people and Rahm Emanuel?

He used to work for Bill Clinton, the first Black President.

He rented out his permanent place of residence in Chicago while he and his family lived in D.C. The qualification of having to live in Chicago for a year prior to running for mayor is more than a little odd to me. Alan Keyes was allowed to run for an Illinois Senate seat (against Obama) without having lived in the state at all. You can't call Emanuel a carpetbagger because he is a lifelong resident of Chicago, not some outsider looking to capitalize on an opportunity. Instead, he is very much an insider looking to capitalize on the same opportunity.

If Rahm can't get this decision overturned, the race is Carol Moseley Braun's to lose.

I know that. I'm referring to the people of Chicago. They have a lot of disdain for him. Perhaps he never contributed enough to the black community there?

It is really odd. I guess between 2004 and now, they changed the laws a little bit. But it's been overturned anyway. He never really changed his place of residency because after all, he is a Congressman and they traveling would cost a lot of money.

Your last sentence, If Rahm can't get this decision overturned, the race is Carol Moseley Braun's to lose, is a bit confusing. If Rahm didn't get this overtuned, Braun would lose or the city would lose?

Rahm Emanuel does barely anything for balck people.
You would have to be an idiot to vote for him and this is coming from a registered democrat that loves Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

He simply will follow the same policies of the old mayor of not helping the black community in Chicago that really needs it. At some point, they had more people getting murdered in Chicago than at war. You literally would be safer in a war than in Chicago.

Honestly, he shouldn't win but I know he will. I don't know how though. I know there is a sizable black community there. They should vote for someone who has been in the community and can unite it. This guy just wants to be mayor to put it on his resume. That's all!
