Religion is slavery of the mind, something I am firmly against, but do not begrudge anyone because of it. As long as she does not try to strip away my individual freedoms and judge my actions because of it, then there should be no problems. An old man who was called insane and had what you would call too much influence once stated: "When a man is freed from religion, he has a better chance to live a normal and wholesome life." As far as labels go, that would put be under Agnosticism/Atheism.

<<<<happily a slave of the heart and soul to God, Jesus my Lord. No problem with that for me--servant, child, though slave would mean that I had no choice and in my religion we have the choice to believe or not, so its not slavery, it is liberation from the slave to sin. :D

i love a lovely Southern Christian girl, man oh man

If religion is devotion to another man's imagination, than Agnosticism/Atheism is devotion to supreme intellect. But please explain to me -- what is devotion to another's imagination!?

I think you have a clue Tukerreed, otherwise, I will class you as schizophrenic since you love labels so much. It is only insanity to believe in supernatural beings, so we should class you as an schizophrenic.

I agree with most of that, but think that it probably only applies to organised forms of religion. There is nothing more liberating than creating your own religion, which I do, every day.

Personally, as long as her religion doesn't interfere with our relationship, I would be open to the idea of dating a devout Christian.

I'm a believer in Christ but at the same time..don't think of myself as an authority on how one should live their life....its probably easier for two people who have strong religious convictions in different faiths than for a relationship to consist of one very religious person and another who is not so much, or at least claims to be religious but are not. It can work in some situations but it depends on the two people. The biggest problem with the organized religions is that many of the people that are the figureheads...happen to be very corrupt....not all but some. It always taints what is good and makes it easier for people to reject the teachings that they are promoting.

It's almost as if you and I have the same way of thinking, Chosen, since we seem to agree a lot on things, despite the differences in religions.

i certainly have more respect for those who do not try to obtrude their religious ideas and symbolic realities on me.

still, my friend is definitely learning to respect our differences and not use every time we have together as a time to market her religion to me. i guess this is the point where i can find out if the relationship is a genuine friendship or one based on false pretenses (i.e. being able to "save" somebody).

thats a silly question, which religion are you talking about? I am sure some do not adn I think its pretty bigoted to stereotype all religions and religious women that way.
