There are two kinds of police : Those who become police because they actually care about protecting and serving the public and those who become police to enforce the law and impose order on the public.
The Fourth Amendment is quickly starting to become a suggestion rather than the actual law. I'm glad that Justice Sotomayor realized the problems with the majority's opinion. Ugh.
When I was in the academy, our class was told that in the earlier days corrections officers were armed civilians who performed the duty of the custody of inmates. There was no formal training then as there is now. The Florida Department of Corrections now wants their officers to be college educated because inmates study the law and will engage an officer with their knowledge of it. It is the same with law enforcement officers.
