I'm usually miss optimistic but I'm tired of trying to see a silver lining where one doesn't truly exist. In a city of 150,000 people, not even 800 could find the time to support this protest? The city is 75% white...where are those protestors? Less than 0.5% support (and likely most of them minorities) isn't good enough imo. I actually think it's disheartening to see those numbers.

Well considering it happened the day after o think those are good numbers. Most protests are usually a small fraction of the population. The Eric Garner protests in NYC were barely 1% but that's enough to be visible and that's the point of protests.

Being visible is all well and good but those numbers sadden me. It's just not good enough imo.

    Taken from the article:

If the author really believes this, then I have a great plot of land that he'd be interested in. It's about 100 miles east of Savannah, GA. I know it looks like water but if you keep going east that plot is totally there.

Everyone assumes that if you're not a card-carrying Klan member it's not a case of racism. They fail to realize that societal racism is implicit in the mere devaluing of black lives and dignity, period. Even black officers can be guilty of it if they respond with extreme force with black people in ways that only elicit a mild response when involving whites.

Oh and a 43 year old Black male neighbor was interviewed saying it was not racially motivated and that things have been blown way out of proportion.

    ooooook

Nothing's happened. When this dies down, he'll likely get hired in another department.

I have to say that I'm disappointed at CNN's headline with "Out of control" in quotes, as if to deny he was by using ironic air quotes. If they intended to indicate that he had not been determined to be out of control they could have said 'Officer Accused of Excessive Force Resigns'. I'm glad there were repercussions for his behavior, but I'm still troubled by the hardcore 50% who seem to think this sort of response against any black behavior, even if it is playful or boisterous, is merited.

Its been said that he had a side gig with a security/self defense company, who removed him from their staff listing as well. Not sure what happened, but maybe they dropped him to avoid any blowback.

People were scouring the net for anything this guy did once his name came out, and he himself removed his youtube and other accounts

    Damage control 101

If Loki is reading this, could you answer this? Is the officer's social media evidence and could removing it qualify as spoliation of evidence, or is that only with regard to evidence directly related to the case?

I only just now watched this video. I started crying for a few seconds. That girl. A child.

I'd like so smoke whatever the fuck it is that he's smoking.

Yep. It may take a few months but Texas is a big state and there are a lot of conservative areas where his brand of "justice" will be welcomed with open arms.

People slay me acting like there has to be a KKK member running around or someone screaming n*bombs for it to be racially motivated. The application of a different approach to that normally used with whites is sufficient.

Cherok I thought the same things watching this. Now today his lawyer says his client "let his emotions get the best of him that day." So the girl fight at the teenage pool party in the middle of the afternoon is too much for this cop emotionally?? I mean shit, don't send this cop to lunch time any day of the week at my junior high.
like you Cherok I noticed how quickly the other cops SPRANG into action when their partner pulled out the gun on those kids. Like they were just sorta chillin and see that and are thinking "ERIC! WTF!"

Pulling a gun out and pointing at unarmed kids. Oh I forgot, this happens all the time
