Congressman: "Evolution is a lie!"

If this isn't the most uneducated, ill-informed statement coming from somebody who considers himself to be "intellectually aware." A few problems are as follows with your poor reasoning:

1. The book you're referring to, The Origin of Species, simply explores the gradual process of change (i.e. evolution) within species and despite the lack of technology back then, Darwin's thesis pretty much holds up well.

I don't know where you gotten the idea that race was involved. Perhaps you're looking at Darwin's personal views on race (hey, even Lincoln felt the same way), but they aren't reflected in the book whatsoever. It's a concise analysis on the whole idea of animals and life gradually changing to their environments.

2. Evolutionary theory isn't about race - Race is more defined as a social construct, and not supported by evolutionary theory or even scientists who support that theory. If anything, evolutionary biological theory to point out that all of our ancestors came out of Africa (look up the Out of Africa Theory), thus all human beings descended from African regions and migrated further Eastward and those peoples adapted to the environments, thus having physiological changes. That doesn't sound like an inferiority complex at all.

If there is anyone on here who still thinks that black people are still defined as inferior species, it's really you. You've fabricated this kind of though off of little knowledge on the field. No one person who supports the theory of evolution would think of race (a social construct which has no reference in evolutionary biology) as the basis to determine any aspect of science. Social Darwinism doesn't even mention race...but rather the all animal and plant species who exercise survival to the fittest.

P.S. Neil deGrasse Tyson supports the theory of evolution too and would think you're crazy.

Everything you've posted on here only tells me you no understanding on the scientific theory, but rather base it off of some propaganda used by groups to validate their own fears and insecurities. In other words, they've used not out of fact, but rather to reinforce some nonsense. You would have this stupid to actually allow propaganda to validate your little worldview.

Evolution is both observable and historical in nature. The existence of transitional fossils is beside the point. The entire scientific process (evolutionary theory included) rests on a process of theoretical testing until results illuminate the true interrelationships between material substances. The correctness of the theories are evidenced in the proper functioning of thousands of scientific innovations, from aspirin to bone marrow transplants. Every verifiable piece of knowledge about biology rests on this knowledge.

Evolution is (via empirically demonstrable DNA evidence, the historical record AND the fossil record) a coherent body of knowledge that uses both scientific knowledge and theory (that if not proven is discarded) to illuminate the true nature of the physical world.

 

You'll be waiting for a while. Yeah Democrats do say dumb things and Democrats do stupid shit but as a party they don't outright award elected officials for being anti-science and anti-intellectual.

This kind of nonsense is endemic in the South. A lot of times I feel that southern Republicans drag down the national party. As much as I would like to be a swing voter I simply cannot with the current GOP.
