Coast Guard's 1st Black Female Helicopter Pilot

Lt. j.g. La'Shanda Holmes is the Coast Guard's first female African-American helicopter pilot. Holmes earning her distinction on April 9, 2010. She is currently assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles where she flies MH-65 Dolphin helicopters. Holmes is from from Fayetteville, N.C. and she completed flight school in 2009.

 

She is definitely a first with more to follow.
