Not forgetting: All these blokes had (and still *have*....once *we* get to see 'em screened again) the BEST ROFL programmes on air* second to NONE! (* - N.B. : In the U.K., sure....but "Dave Allen At Large" was screened on WGN TV-9 Chicago Back In The Day; And "Benny Hill" was aired on WFLD TV-32 back home, as well; And as for "Monty Python", whilst they *did* get their start on PBS, they can now be seen Stateside on the IFC Network...with NO commercial interruptions. i submit for the approval of the midnight council Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Great show when I was kid. Can't forget about Xena. I fricking loved her.
My goodness the Brit show you mentioned brings a lot of memories:Benny Hill,Monty Python, and Dave Allen At Large. I saw them mostly on Public TV and they were hilarious. Dave Allen was way ahead of Bill Maher since he was a atheist and picked on religion with a passion. I remember a skit where Benny Hill parodied Allen. I hope to get Dave Allen on DVD soon.
There are so many tv shows I don't know how to list them but here they are: Hogan's Heroes The Carol Burnett Show All in the Family Sanford and Son SWAT Good Times I Spy Law and Order
Now that Dave has passed on (As well as Benny, and 1/6 of the Python gang..namely Graham Chapman), there's talk of his estate bringing out his classic BBC programmes & such on DVD. Stay 'tooned, eh? OpinionsCartoonStudios@Yahoo.Co.UK
You the shit for both of those. Are You Afraid of the Dark was my shit. I don't know how they made that show so scary. I swear, the 90s was the golden age for kids TV. Nickelodeon is ass, and Cartoon network, not including Adult Swim, is fucking lame as well.
Dude I feel the same exact way. I feel like an old person saying this but I really feel like we were the last generation of great childhoods. There's way too much shitty media out now.
i could take or leave benny hill, saying that, i always loved the ending of the show...a rub of a bald head and being chased by beautiful skantily clad women. i lived and breathed dave allen, my mum had a huge crush on him & my dad being english had to watch anything from over that side of the world. i still remember him in his chair with his "strong drink" and fags. we also watched:
what's that sonny...??? speak up i can't hear you....!!! i seemed to have misplaced my hearing cone this morning...that happens when you get old you know, you forget things. maybe i put it next to my glass of false teeth...
thanks tirkah...nice to know i'm appreciated, even though according to andrae i'm old as dirt...!! :smt008
My appreciation to you doesn't change the fact that you're still an old geezer. I hope you know I'm kidding. You're not old, you're just spunky. Whatever that means, just know that I mean it in a good way. I'm guessing it means beautiful in Aussie. At least I hope so.
lol...well alright, if you can close your eyes and pretend...i can shave my chin and put my teeth in for the occasion...!!! oh, i wont put them in if you want me gummy...if you know what i mean...nudge, nudge, wink, wink...say no more...!!! lol...thank you tirkah...!!! oh and the definition for spunk in australian is: Spunk : a good looking person (of either sex)
Tarshi you crack me up but on a serious note I've always wondered how that would be. Call me in 40 years so I can find out ;-)
Tbear,I remember Are You Being Served and Welcome Back Kotter. I don't know the photos of those other shows. I love to see Steptoe and Son and Til Death Us Do Part on DVD.
