Christians, how do you feel about separation of the Church?

How do you feel about the fact that we have so many Christian churches and denominations in place? Does it bother you, or do you think everyone is right in their own way?

It takes all kinds of people to make the world go round. I think the denominations are necessary to keep balance and give us all thing to consider.

IMO, it discredits organised religion and proves that there is no "right", therefore leaving the floor open to individual interpretation. Every person should think and feel what is most correct for them.
First do no harm, then live and let live.

I think it is sad but as sinful men that is what was going to happen. Man always trying to do things their way and not Gods way--in Christ Jesus Alone!!!

As long as the churches follow the Bible as the inerrant and true word of the one true and living God, Jehovah , then i dont have a problem with it. its the ones who do not follow that become the apostate church

"My belief is that the truth is a truth until you organize it, and then becomes a lie. I don't think that Jesus was teaching Christianity, Jesus was teaching kindness, love, concern, and peace. What I tell people is don't be Christian, be Christ-like. Don't be Buddhist, be Buddha-like."

"Religion is orthodoxy, rules and historical scriptures maintained by people over long periods of time. Generally people are raised to obey the customs and practices of that religion without question. These are customs and expectations from outside the person and do not fit my definition of spiritual."

    I agree with Wayne Dyer.

Anyhoo, I say believe what makes you happiest and what resonates in your heart, because in the end, no one can possibly know whether or not they are right. Believe what is right to YOU, and what makes you and your life on this planet better, and shut up. :D

    FREEDOM FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*EDIT* I've decided to add something. Every person interprets things differently. So, while you may read the same texts as someone else, you could both interpret it in entirely two different ways. So, really, we have no choice but to follow our own unique paths and denominations anyway. And if that's not what our Creator wanted, then he/she/it wouldn't have made us human. JMO

christian means christ like. and no jesus was preaching Christianity , as that is what the gospels are about--Christ(the Messiah) God incarnate. He preached living as he lived, but more than that he preached adn taught that He and the Father are ONE, that He was the ONLY way to heaven and to eternal life.

so yes be christian but be a real christian, one that knows who God is and having a personal relationship with the ONE TRUE GOD, Jesus Christ our Lord

Every religion (minus Wicca), that I know of, preaches of being the ONLY way to a heaven and eternal life, etc. So what makes one truer than the other? Because that's how YOU personally feel about it, that's what makes sense to YOU and what resonates within YOU (and other people who feel the same way YOU do) so like I was saying WE have no choice but to follow OUR own unique paths, interpretations, and denominations anyway because that's REALLY what it all boils down to and exactly what WE are ALL really doing anyway. Blessed be. :)

I see it as an individual shoud have their own church, their own bible, and their own prayer. I've since realized that we are not just a "Christian" nation.

We shouldn't force religions of any kind onto other people. So yes I am for the separation of church. I'm not a religious man I'm a spiritual man, and I don't really think that any religion has it right because none of us really know anything.

    We're all human.

I've said this before but if Jesus really knew what kind of Christians he had running around here, he'd climb back up on the cross and start all over again.:smt009

Many good points. In Germany they make you take religion classes at school.Starting at 1st grade all the way through high school. You can't quit it.
You can usually pick whether you want to take classes in protestant or catholic religion or ethics which means you learn about all religions ,not focussed about any particular one and then some general values.
Since I was baptized protestant I picked protestant religion but I felt very uncomfortable with the exams they had us take in 11th -13th grade. Some tasks were basically based on bible interpretation and if the teacher totally disagreed with you that resulted in not so good grades.
I don't want to be taught how to interpret the bible or how to believe. I rather find my own way.

We have RE (Religious Education) in all public schools (at least, when I went through) up until grade 8, I think. It was optional, and the many Hindu's and Buddhists at my school usually opted out.

I went to a Christian private high school - so it's fair enough we were taught religion there. A lot of Catholic High Schools make you choose between doing religion as a Senior subject, or just as an additional subject. Either way, it is a full subject load - 5 lessons per week. Luckily, I only had it for 45 mins, once per week, plus one chapel service. Phew.

I think an Ethics subject would be more useful - something that draws upon understandings of religions, their different basic philosophies and other forms of ethics. Teaching people how to critically think is much more important. Of course, you would probably lose people to the church, but perhaps the ones that are there would understand more why it is that they're attending. Quality over quantity? Just an idea.

That's what we get over here. It's called RMPS - Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies. It was one of my favourite subjects. It was mandatory until 4th year (age 16) and from there it was a choice.
