We don't need a national religion in this country to further divide us...as soon as a national religion is declared all those that practice other religions will experience a shift in their freedom of choice... The beauty of this country boils down to our freedom...as soon as we give up one thing it will be something else ...a reminder to all of us to register to vote...participate in elections...support issues that are important to you and vote against issues you feel rival your beliefs

A national religion in this political context equals a political stunt. This had a better shot of working 30 years ago, but now the country has become too diverse to even try this gambit.

    That's my 2 cents anyhow.

religion is a personal choice and should at no time be dictated by anybody in no way.

from a christian point of view:

    Matthew 22:17-21
Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said, “Caesar's.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”

politics and religion should not mingle.
