Chitwetel Ejiofor Joins Angelina In Spy Thriller

British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor has been cast opposite Angelina Jolie in the upcoming film "Salt," reports Moviehole.net.

Originally set to star Tom Cruise, the Columbia Pictures espionage thriller was redrafted by screenwriter Kurt Wimmer as a star vehicle for Jolie. Philip Noyce remains attached as director and Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Sunil Perkash are producing, reports Variety.

Jolie plays the title character, a CIA officer who's accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence.

Ejiofor's resume includes critically-acclaimed turns in "Talk to Me," "Kinky Boots," "Children of Men" and "American Gangster." He also has a part in Roland Emmerich's big-budget blockbuster "2012" due in November.

Love this guy as an actor. He was great in Serenity, and Four Brothers.

 

I doubt they have any love scenes together...Brad better stay close to the set 24/7 just in case

His role in Serenity is small and limited. Four Brothers is garbage. To get a better grasp of Chewy's abilities check out...

Dirty Pretty Things, Kinky Boots and Redbelt. He had lead roles in those movies. He was fantastic in Tsunami too.

 

JS,he maybe good in the movies but in the IR dept,he is not good.

 

He probably just needs the right script because remember that he's still an up-n-comer as far as American audiences are concerned.

 

Which just goes to show how awesome he is since to me he stole the movie. His character was smooth, elegant and refined, yet a total badass. Without him, the movie would've just been an extended Firefly episode. I've gotta go see Redbelt one of these days.

 

What? In real life? In the movies? if is the latter how is it any different than virtually all other black actors. But if you really want to know his relationship with French superstar actress Audrey Tautou in Dirty Pretty Things, while not consummated, is still a much better on screen love story involving a black actor and a white actress than anything Denzel has given us. Plus in Woody Allen's "Melinda and Melinda" he had a relationship with two white females. In "Love Actually" Keira Knightley played his new bride. And there's another movie he did a few years back in which he and a white woman are the main characters in a movie as well as a couple in that same film as well. The woman playing the love interest is Lauren Ambrose of Six Feet Under. Chiwetel's character I believe is a writer who imagines his character having a different life which means in the film he is apparently also playing a different character who is involved with another woman (also white). This movie is called "Tonight At Noon". Its an independent film. Unfortunately it’s been in the can forever and still hasn't been released. Don't know when or if it’s ever going to happen. But the point is Chewy is not like some African American dude who won't dip his toe in those waters. He's a Brit which means he's not nearly as pigeonholed.

 

In the movies. I saw those flicks and he is not getting any action.

 

I stand corrected since I seen that Woody Allen flick. In Love Actually,homes was a cuckold,not knowing his friend was in love with his wife.

 

So? She was still his wife and remained his wife and was never unfaithful to him. At least he had a white wife and she happened to be played by one of the young, highly promoted white starlets of this decade. Now...line up all the African American actors that can say the same thing. There are cats fromthe USA who have been around a lot longer and have a much higher profile as actors who nonetheless have less impressive resume on the IR front (when the IR is involving a white woman).

Considering how utterly lacking of IR action on the big screen between bm and ww why even go that route when discussing Ejiofor? I mean its not as if you can toss at us a bunch of black guys with better track records.

 

I expect little more intimacy in IR movies. Anyway I'm glad there are some are made with decent lovin.

 

:smt018Hey Jamal now ease up a lil' bit on the American bros 'cause I believe they are down with the onscreen swirl but just like I stated before they have to be given the chance to do it or take the chance themselves if they can get up the money that is. I've seen some pretty good IR stuff from American bros in the smaller independent flim venue as well as on cable that to me was some really good work.

 

Yes,don't forget Mario Van Peebles who did several IR flicks on his belt.

Of Course it aint going to be interracial, I doubt angelina jolie
is going to be only the third mainstream actress behind Michelle Phiefer
and Raquel Welch to go do IR in the intimate way. Even though the rest
of this world change hollywood is still a white man's world just ask Julia
Stiles.
