China has finally surpasses the U.S. in producing the world's fastest supercomputer, knocking the U.S.Energy Departments Jaguar out of the running. China has several machines beyond the current machine in development. China has long vowed it would someday surpass the west. Their machine "The Tianhe-1A has a peak theoretical speed of 4.7 petaflops. A petaflop is 1,000 trillion mathematical operatios per second. The DOE's Jaguar has a theoretical speed of2.3 petaflops. Supercomputers are key as the engines of the information age in which effects the development of all computational devices. Supercomputers are the next economic engines to grow national economies from developing new products and service, to manufacturing, developing nuclear weaponry and to advance education. While the chinese advance, the americans and the rest of the west cannot get their act together. China with it's industrious people will give the west a run for their money.

That is definitely fascinating! Maybe not be great news for the good ol' red, white and blue, but for the sake of technology...it's GOOD! Here's hoping it won't screw the way of Chinese drywall.

    Meaningless.

Pay attention to their rate of alternative energy development. Since we cannot tell China to halt its development and stop burning coal, we desperately need for them to adopt wind, solar, and other alternatives to energy production. This planet cannot take a country with 1.5 billion people who desire the same irrational standard of living as America, to burn all of Australia's coal to get it.
