An officer from the New Mexico State Police Department has been fired after security cameras caught him -- in full uniform -- having sex with a woman on the hood of a car!

Bert Lopez, named Officer of the Year by the State Police Department in 2009, was caught by surveillance cameras which had been installed by the Sante Fe PD to catch vandals at the Sante Fe Ranch.

Lopez, an eight-year veteran of the department, can clearly be seen engaging in the act while still wearing his entire police uniform, including his utility belt complete with gun and handcuffs!

The unknown woman is sprawled on her back on what is presumably her vehicle. Her jeans are clearly visible around her ankles and her top is partially off.

Adding to the bizarre tableau, a tiny chihuahua dog wandered into the scene, and watched all the action from a prime viewing spot at the officer's feet!

According to State Police spokesman Sgt. Tim Johnson, the situation is "embarrassing" but not illegal. It appears the sex was consensual, nor was it related to anything to do with his police duties, like a traffic stop.

Lopez was instantly put on three weeks of administrative leave before being fired. He now has 30 days to appeal the dismissal ruling.

In July, Lopez was given what the State Police call a Challenge Coin, awarded to officers who go above and beyond the call of duty.

    He certainly did!

Hmmm - how is it not technically "illegal"? Isn't having sex in public an indecency ordinance? There was no attempt at privacy (ie car, bathroom stall, under a blanket).

    F#cking classic.

    I'm glad he got caught.

I love seeing people with power/authority getting busted "abusing" it. [IMG]

The only thing that I am offended about is that if a cop does that he gets a slap on the wrist. I do that to a woman on a cop car, I'd probably be in jail.

Rule #1: Don't compare yourself to a cop.

Rule #2: He is above the law.

Don't think its a cop car...may be hers, since I think the doggie is too, that might've gotten out of the car.

I find it funny that the State Police spokesman reassured us the sex was consensual and not related to anything to do with his police duties, "like a traffic stop". As if that's what could happen if one were to be stopped by a traffic cop. 'Mam, bend over please, while I check your license.." :smt036

I was told by a lawyer once that cops think everyone belongs in jail - except them. LOL.

Nothing better than seeing a cop do wrong and he actually gets punished for it.

Because cops can "do no wrong". Pffff.......

Oh, if we really saw half the shit they get away with.....

I gotta hand it to em' though. It is a tough job and somebody's gotta do it. More power to them for choosing that position.

Legal in my state. Legal in 15 other states.

    Check the laws.

The Federal government will say otherwise but that only matters if you're getting charged by the feds. (wtf would you be doing to get charged by the feds?)

If you're being charged by the state police, the law will be upheld.

Besides, I'm not a cop and I don't abuse my rights.

Haven't smoked or drank alcohol in the past 3 months. Within moderation, Sir. :smt039

since when did you get glaucoma mothafucka :p

and how is he abusing his rights as a cop? he's having sex outside with a woman who could be his girlfriend for all you know. I don't see any abuse. Maybe a lack of common sense for screwing outside, but no abuse.

I have to admit, the pic does exemplify a power position...he's standing, fully clothed in his "get-up", she's in a submissive position almost naked...lost in the throes of passion, he seems in total control, almost looking out or distracted..probably telling the chihuahua to stop its yapping.

Public Obscenity is a law almost every where and if this doesn't count what does!

I didn't say he was abusing his rights.

I said that, "I'm not a cop and I don't abuse my rights."

I think he meant he doesn't abuse his legal weed rights. (I could be wrong)

No one is, or even can. The cop department already verified it..it was consensual and not acted out during a police procedure.

he knows what he meant and i know what he meant

he's takin a dig at the 5-0 because he can't smoke a joint in front of them

bet if a mothafucka was stompin a hole in his ass, he'd be glad to see em roll up on the low-low

now see that would be abusing his 'rights' as a cop

she wanted that dick and he couldn't wait for that hot piece of tail

    it's win-win

all he had to do was change into some civilian shit before knockin her off

    Nah, you were wrong.

I don't abuse my rights as a citizen. Neither am I a cop that is reckless in my behavior while in uniform.

He was using poor judgment, which we all do. It's just that he's in a position of power so it has more of an impact.

And I already said, it's a tough job, more power to them. I'm not slamming all cops. [IMG]
