You do realize that the description of 'paradise' is allegorical? Much like when you hear the Christian description that Heaven will have streets paved of gold, that's just used to illustrate beauty, there aren't actually streets paved of gold. Not to mention the concept of 72 houri is hearsay... so and so said, that so and so told them, that this dude overheard Muhammad say thus and so... is really not compelling, crap like that wouldn't even be admissible in a modern day court of law, so I really don't think I'd base a major tenet of my religion on idle gossip.

And while we're on the subject of paradise, did you ever wonder how you're going to have all this awesome sex with the 72 or 70 houri, whichever rumor you happen to believe, when you don't have a body? You'd think a prophet would have mentioned that it's hard to be physical with someone, virgin or not, if you have no physical presence. Clearly your human body remains behind to decay when you die, so I'm wondering what you plan to 'make love' to all these wide eyed virgins with. I've read some of the inspired Muslim texts and honestly they read like poorly written trashy romance novels. You can tell a man came up with it for sure, but it's not even remotely believable to me, and I'm really surprised anyone could read it and think 'oh yes, this is definitely from God's own mouth'.

 

Those 72 virgins will be ALL male, so he better lube up. And take those virgins like the man that he claims to be.

You're both on the mark here, the word houri is used in referring to both males and females, however when referring to the males they possess distinctly feminine characteristics, in other words they are effeminate males... so make of that what you will. I know what that tells me, but to each their own interpretation.

I believe there are some references to them that note gender, though some are vague. Not to mention I believe it references that not all are true virgins, they can be revirginized in paradise & they remain virgin regardless of how much sex they have... boy if they could patent that process it'd be more popular than that eye lightening laser. As I recall, it's been a while since I read the Qur'an and other texts, the 72 houri are wives in the afterlife essentially... I don't know about you but getting 72 wives whether they are virgins or not sounds more like a punishment than a reward... can you imagine? That guy is gonna be too exhausted by refereeing all the cat fights to have sex with anyone.

But as a whole it's clearly a religion created by men for men, and they don't appear to consider women much more than sex slaves. I realize that Christianity is also a male dominant religion, but thankfully it's evolved to a point where women are valued and treated equally by most churches, denominations, etc. Not to mention if you read the Bible you don't find a bunch of crap about women existing solely to perform sexual acts, reading some of the Muslim texts is downright laughable with the talk of never ending erections and appetizing vaginas. I mean really?

Not to mention I'm still trying to figure out why they take all that so literally. How can you have sex without a body? I don't know about you but a never ending erection of my invisible penis really isn't something to write home about.

 

The color of skin got nothing to do with religion.
I personally know ww who became a muslima by choice.
None of them are ignorant and offending just because they have different beliefs than others.
They are way more peaceful,tolerant and educated like the person that you project with your posts.

WhalidM, as long as attitudes like that are the focus of the media on the behalf of Islam and Muslims, then it'll be much more difficult for society to really accept them as a whole because of a fringe group of people who lack any means or measures of love for another person.

 

oh i know its only a minority with the thoughts of whalid but i seem to attract em, ive been attacked in a mosque before and not one person stepped in to help me or my daughter, infact the women advised me to allow a man to beat me if hes upset as he will calm down quicker than if i try to get away
