Anybody else occasionally find themselves unable to just go to sleep?

I'm so glad I am not alone, up until this last week I slept like a baby, this week no luck. Maybe a change in the seasons messing with us?

A friend of mine is sleeping like in koma, I have to wake her up several times every morning- what is unusual, too,,, the internet wasn't working for a few days, the phone is bad, people are confused in general or aggressive, impatient and I am sleepless..oh je!:smt045 something is going on *behind the scenes*. Normally I sleep like a baby, as you, but at the moment I sleep maximum 3 hrs, sleep, get up, try to sleep, get up and so on..now it's 8am and I drink my coffee, so my torture is over till this evening

Yes. I've had insomnia on and off (i.e. 3-5 days a week) for the last two years. :( Herbal 'sleeping aids' don't help.

I've dealt with insomnia for many years, and it sucks.

^^^^I had it also. That "zomby" feelin' isn't cool at all, espcially since I worked an hour from my home back then.

I don' like using this CPAP machine, but I gotta' do what I gotta' do...

Insomnia has been giving me problems since '05-'06 and it's only gotten worse over time. When the standard over the counter stuff stops working I take melatonin. It knocks you out but the dreams it causes may make you question whether it's been spiked or not.

Thanks, I'll give melatonin a try. Are you able to wake up on it, or do you feel hung over the next day?

Yeah the zombie thing is not good at all.

There are times when I can't sleep, mainly if I'm way too excited for something, or I'm thinking too much over one thing. I don't have insomnia, but I can relate to it. My number one solution for me getting to sleep despite whether I am stressed out or not, is that I put on some music, and I'm out like a light. :)

Sometimes it does. I've gotten mixed results. It's best when you know you'll get at least eight hours straight through. I normally save it for weekends when I know I don't have to get up early the next day. It's best to start off with 3mg tablets and work your way up. I tried 10mg once...still don't know how I managed to get out of bed the next day.

That's the number one cause of my insomnia. It's bad enough when my body can't relax, but when my mind won't let me sleep? Torture!

Right now sleep either evades me or that is all I want to do. I usally fall asleep on the couch, as the bed feels too big being alone.

Today I got home at 3:30 from work and 8, sleep til 5. Ate, went back to sleep til 8. Planning on trying to go to bed for the nght at 10 and will be up by 4 to do some work and exercise before my work day starts. I have an appointment and dinner with a friend tomorrow, when I am busy sleep comes easier.

Melatonin pills don't seem to work for me at all (kinda strange, since melatonin's naturally produced by the body, lol). I wish they had that effect on me :p.

I just have to stay up until my body decides to let me sleep. Unfortuately, lately that means being awake until 6 am or so... then getting up at 9 am. Then I usually have an 'accidental' nap while studying, which becomes 4-5 hours of sleep in the evening... and throws my sleep schedule off again lol. I've only ever bought starbucks... 5 times in my life, this morning is that 5th time :p.
Hoping that because I have to go to the doc with my roommate later and then take care of her for some of the evening, it'll help me stay awake until crashing at 10-11pm. Then I'll get up early and hopefully everything will be "reset".

Totally agree and do the same :)
