As much as I hate to say this but I've been unemployed for quite some time, but I'm going to start looking for one as soon as I"m done with this class. So I was wondering does working out help with your job performance? Is your memory good? I'm going to try & get a head start, by running on the treadmill & buying the beachbody products.

For me, working out and going Paleo worked wonders for me overall. You can't do one without the other, in my opinion.

id say working out and living a healthy lifestyle overall, helps job performance and other areas

working out or training jiu jitsu keeps me positive about everything, and it bleeds over into my work environment. i let my positive outlook rub off on everyone, and try to keep the morale high, which turns people into happier employees

as a side note..working out and having a certain physique also helps with getting jobs. I know I read that elsewhere, but on more than one occasion, i've discussed working out, diets and 'whos muslces are bigger' with managers and directors. working out and looking the way i look because of it, combined with good personality features and work ethic has only benefited me, and can benefit you.

After college I was unemployed for quite a while, was lazy and gained wait.
One day I signed up at the gym and no lie I was there 7 days a week 1h30 a day and topping my session off with a good 10mins in the sauna and a shower.
After 10 weeks of pure dedication I lost 24kg more or less 52lbs and while I was losing weight I felt so much better about myself, less stressed and overall more confident. Found a job and been good since.

Whether you are unemployed or not eating healthy and working out should be part of your daily life. No need to be at it 7 days a week however I believe one should have a routine.

Aside from the fitness and energy I can imagine some people also feel more confident with themselves once the effects of the work out sets in and they slowly tone their body and look slimmer/more athletic.
I've witnessed it in a person who has gone through it and the overall change to a healthier self confidence level was amazing to observe.
I can imagine an employer who has a job or promotion to give out may also pay attention to how comfortable a person seems to be with him- or herself.

Perhaps the perception you give off to your peers could improve by being disciplined enough to train, yes. Unfortunately overweight people are seen as 'lazy' even though that may not be the case, so it does help...indirectly.

Working out gives so many multiple positives in your life. It's silly not to do it.

Funny thing is that the creator of Paleo believes Crossfit is ridiculous.

But all silliness aside Paleo is pretty damn solid. It can just become expensive.

    Oh jeez...lol

Well, he does not think it's ridiculous. He and Glassman, the founder of CF, had a falling out years ago. As a result, he has said that crossfit itself is solid, but he has no interest in continuing to work with Glassman - at least, that's what I read in the last interview someone did with him. People say lots of awesome stuff in a rage!

Paleo can be expensive, you're right about that. However, it's worth the fact that I don't feel like crap and see incredible results. That's all I need to know to see that it works. I tell people all of the time....if you can't afford to eat healthy, how in the heck can you afford to be sick??

I feel the same way! I just meant that Paleo tends to be expensive since you eat a lot of meat in the diet. Still it's a great diet.

Have you introduced stuff like hummus into your diet? It's cheap to make and full of healthy fats and protein. I tend to actually eat more Mediterranean food more than anything if I make it myself, or Thai. Those styles of food where there are a lot of vegetables, healthy fats, good sources of protein, minimize on the carbs.

No, i don't eat it because hummus is not Paleo, and I never was a huge fan of it. I did make a raw cashew cheese with garlic that's sort of like a ricotta cheese or hummus. Really good!

I think the thing people miss about Paleo is that it's not so much about the meat. Half of yourdiet should be vegetables, then some lean protein, then fruit, nuts, and seeds. The meat still should be a normal serving size. So, it is similar to the Mediterranean style of eating since we primarily use coconut and olive oils.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that most of the expense of Paleo comes from buying organic and grassfed items, along with things like almond and coconut flour. Not so much from the meat. :)
