Yes I am haha, I love her- she's extremely intelligent, but just ignorant on certain things. Honestly I had to tell her what lynching was, because she truly didn't know what it actually was- go figure.

This is a very ignorant statement. I agree with petty in that it comes off as incredibly racist. First of all you are assuming there were no black people there. Also, I will talk to anyone I damn well choose to - I am not going to jump to conclusions that someone is necessarily racist until they prove it to me by their actions.

I'm sure a lot of guys on this board have white guy friends, and see how stupid this statement of yours is. Just because I have a PROPENSITY for liking/preferring black men, doesn't mean that I will shut out having conversations/being friends with white men. Just the same as I am platonic friends with men of all other shades and hues, cultures and ethnicities. If the right guy with the right qualities came along, I would not care what color he was. SMDH.

You are putting blame on me, when I did the RIGHT THING and stood up for black people, staying true to myself and people I love. They even knew that I dated black men and still tried to pass that joke by me. Do NOT try to shame me - SHAME ON YOU.

Paniro, I keep trying to rep you for your posts lately, but apparently have to spread it around first. Thanks for the sense and reason.

Well that's kind of sad isn't it? I mean, I'll bet you that most of the females on this board have black female friends AND white male friends.

What does that say about the quality of men in here? Honestly.

Exactly this. I cannot think of a single recent (~10 years) instance of my friends using racism. Not to say we don't use racist remarks, but I truly feel that it's most likely to come from the mouth of a white man. Black women would probably come a somewhat distant second.

PS: Yes, those obviously are generalizations.
PPS: Be politically correct if you want, just making observations based on what *I* see.

Still, it's sad that we would choose not to be friends with someone based on the fact that they are a white male or a black female so MIGHT say something racist...??? Talk about living in fear.

I choose my friends more carefully than that.

I also wonder if you would even NOTICE if one of your friends said something racist, if it was phrased just right. Yes I've seen examples of what you're talking about, but I am not going to walk around being terrified that someone is going to be racist - yes it's scary, but I notice that dating a black man seems to bring out the best in people's behavior toward me...and the worst. It's pretty easy to weed people out as friends when you are in an IR relationship.

The good that it brings out in people far outweighs the nastiness. I will choose my friends based on those good reactions (of course weeding out the potential cuckolds LOL - that one is tricky!).

I am not being PC. When have I ever been? I just resent blanket statements about people when they should be judged based on the merits of their actions toward me. Period.

I clicked the wrong one. The rep I wrote was meant for this post...otherwise my comment makes less sense lol

You must have zero social life from you comments. Many times when you get together in social situations with other people, those other people bring their friends or see their friends out. Or you go to a party or get together at someones house and you meet people there, some you already know and some not.

They aren't controlled situations like your house where I guess you obviously have "quotas" and rules based on what color your friends are ?

I hang out with people who I like and are fun, not based on their skin color whatsoever.

Its less about the words used and more about the emotion behind them, and the perception by those who hear them.

In general I don't like mean people, so I don't associate with them, racist or not. Nor do I spend much time (of my own choice) with idiots. In my social group there is far less hate and arguing and way more laughing.

A prerequisite to hanging out with me is lack of douchiness. If random people say stupid shit, I just keep on walking. Fuck the haters.

    Agreed

I have crazy ass friends who are of different races, and we are not PC,... at all, but we know what we are and aren't. No filtering or fake(ness) involved.

I call out people for all manners of disappointing behavior, not just racism. I am not an easy person to be around.
