Had anyone seen the movie Cadillac Records? I saw scene of Chuck Berry and his relationships with White groupies. I did not know he was very deep into WW.
He went to prison for the Mann Act aka the white slavery trafficing act. (Same as Jack Johnson the boxer). The movie barely touched on the issue, just enough to lead into his imprisonment. Too many men during reconstruction/Jim Crowe era where imprisoned for consentually dating a white woman if they traveled together across state lines. I remember reading up on the couple who dated which lead to the Tulsa Race riot. The black mans mother said the lady moved to Kansas (?) and when he got out of jail, he met her there and they lived together and had kids. In all the history books, you never hear that. But I read it in the transcript of a interview of the black mans mother.
