I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but let's find out.

I live in London, my partner is Ghanaian. We have been together for a few months now. When we first met, and had been on a few dates, my friends were deeply distrustful and every time he was mentioned, some comment like "oh he just wants a visa from you" came up in conversation. Sometimes they were being funny, sometimes they were being serious, either way I found it really prejudiced but it chipped away at my confidence and I started to worry. So I spoke to him about it and he was a bit upset, and told me not to listen to people's opinions on matters like that but just to trust him. So I did and now things are fine, and I realised how uninformed most people are - not about IR relationships straight up but about English girls with African boys.

Now his best friend - who is half Ghanaian, half Lebanese - has a new partner, and guess what she's been hearing from all her friends?

People are a bit sad, aren't they? My bloke has been in the country for 3 years - he doesn't need help getting a visa from me, obviously.

I used to date a Nigerian man back when I was 19 and he was 23 in 1987.
He was here going to Wayne State University, on a student visa, living with his brother. We are still friends, and I'm not exactly sure if he is a US citizen yet and I really could care less ( this topic NEVER came up in any of our discussions!!!)....but I do remember when we were dating, people did warn me. How ignorant people can be. Always trying to hate on other people!! I have known this man for 18+ years. I also have never known any of his Nigerian friends to marry anyone for citizenship.....
I know it's probably been done before but it is such a stereotype of Nigerian men, how sad.... :(

Guess what though, ladies? It's all a result of racism, but, I guess in the case of your friends, racial/ethnic jokes aren't racist at all, unless they are 'mean' enough or something.

No, I'm perfectly willing to call any friend racist who comes out with claptrap like that. After all, this might be my future husband they're referring to!

    Sardonic...
what kind of response was that??? I said people....not MY FRIENDS.
I DO NOT hang around people like that. The people I was referring to were coworkers and a nosy lady who lived next door. You can guess what my response to them was.... I don't play that shit.

Sardonic, I apologize... you got me all
in a uproar, you should know I get "EMOTIONAL".
I think you like to get a rise out of us women here from time to time :)
It's OK mistress...sometimes you never know people for who they really are until they get to know the REAL you.....

I find that sitting with them over a newspaper usually does the trick, then I find out quite how conservative their views are!
It is fine to have friends with different views to you - but I never really get into talking with them very deeply.

I agree with you; thats a huge stereotype of Nigerian men. Now mother and father were born and bred in Nigeria and have been living here in America for exactly 40 and 27 years respectively. My father told me that when he came to America in 1965, most of the women he dated always asked him if was dating them for citizenship rights. He came into America with the visitors' visa which is what he got then and got a few extensions for years and lived on that. But he never, at any point, was here illegally. When he dated women, he said their friends used to warn the women that they should watch out that Nigerian men only date citizens just to get a visa and dump them later. Its the same stereotype in England too.
Ironic enough, my mom became an American citizen through him. My dad has tons of Nigerian friends who have not dated anyone for immigration reasons even though a few minority engage in such acts. A lot of Nigerian men have even helped others get in- (IMMIGRATION OFFICERS, DONT READ THIS. joke  ) I'm of Nigerian descent and i've "arranged marriages with many women to help them get in, the most recent was with a Cuban girl..... "faked the marriage and she got in. But she paid me even though i wasnt interested in gettin any pay.
So i'd say that stereotype is very silly.

but he just wants a visa

Most african boys looks for white women for the advantage of getting european/america/canada/austarlia visa quickly without complications while most white women looks for african boys to get sexual satisfaction from them while they dont get while they stayed in there countries europe/usa etc
you could see white women attached with african boys inorder to be fucked by us big cock african boys because they didnt often fucked by big black cock, and they are free here in africa because not any one knows thems while the hung with african boys something they cant do while they are in home contries (usa, europe etc)because they are forbbiden with culture so african boys looks for visa while white women looks for sex tour in africa in order to be fucked by big african cock!!!

Re: but he just wants a visa

I didn't know you could go on Sex Tours in Africa but since it's getting a little repetitive to be fucked by the same massive African dick each night, I'm looking into it. Maybe many of Africa's economic problems could be resolved if governments had been canny enough to pimp the male talent to female visitors.
