    My Take

While we understand religious freedom, there are also certain guidelines in which people ought to comply with when working in a setting to earn some money. There are rules and regulations, especially when it comes to dress code. As far as I know, wearing pants is actually mandatory in settings like that especially when it's also about safety reasons. The lawsuit is completely unwarranted and the girl should work elsewhere where dress codes are more flexible.

She's going to graduate anyway, so try not to cause a stir and be a troublemaker.

Sometimes, as a general rule, people have to do things they don't want to do.

Do you want to practice your religion (which has absolutely NO place at work anyway) or do you want to eat and pay your bills?

I understand that we have freedom of religion for a reason but to disregard an order by a higher up at work just so you can be granted some kind of dispensation because somehow god is REALLY going to care if you have to wear pants for two hours a day is just..ridiculous.

I realize also that she was granted some kind of dispensation before she started. But every single job app I've ever filled out states that EITHER side can terminate the contract as anytime.

Once again..just because Jesus loves you doesn't mean that everyone else has too.

The young ladies request seems more than reasonable to me. She isn't "practicing her religion at work" she is simply requesting to wear a uniform that aligns with her belief system.

If this situation was reversed, and a young woman was fired for wanting to wear pants. Hell! you would have every women's rights group from here to China lining up to sue the restaurant in question.

Unfortunately for this young lady. The anti-religious sentiment in our society as of late, might not bode well for her chances in court.

I thought businesses have to make exceptions for people's religion when it comes to things like dress, hairstyles, facial hair, head gear (don't know how else to phrase it)? I don't see why they couldn't accommodate her.

Agreed. It's done all the time where I live. As long as it doesn't pose a hazard in the workplace, I see nothing wrong with it.

Exactly and according to her, she was upfront with the interviewer.

    She's a cashier, not a cook, so I don't see why she couldn't wear a long skirt.

I disagree with most of you. Businesses have a right to set up their own dress codes. If she didn't want to follow it, she could find another job that would allow her to wear a skirt.

Your religion is suspect if it won't allow a young woman to wear pants working at a fast food joint.

Where exactly is it written in the Bible that women shall not wear trousers???

    Pentacostals have 'issues'.:smt048

That's not your job to decide. How judgmental.

It's an opinion. I'm not deciding anything.
Yes any religion that forbids women from wearing trousers versus skirts/dresses is nutty, IMO. It just is.

I don't think there's any Biblical reference for specific clothing to show piety for women. Pentacostals just added that shit to be difficult.:smt021

oh she is going to be a big troublemaker wearing skirts and all lol

I think that she should be allowed to wear a skirt or pants. How does this hurt their business? Is anyone not going to go to burgerking because a woman is wearing a skirt instead of a pants?

It'd be risky wearing a skirt, not so much for religious grounds, but more so because when you're working in an environment where you're making hot foods, the last thing an employee needs is to having hot grease spilled by accident and tears into your flesh.
