It was also bang out of line to call Tash a supporter of slavery. Besides which, the first Africans, to my recollection, were enslaved by either middle Easterns or other Africans...let's not forget the slave trades of Greece, Rome and EGYPT, which is in Africa last time I looked.

actually, Greece and Rome are in Europe. And It was no more out of line than Tash or whatever her name is, trying to make a forum post her own personal attck page.

she is a white european, british, thus she is a benefactor of the profits from the colonialism and slavery was just one part. Britian was the leader in the world adn one of the richest Empires in history because of the brutal colonialism and slavery which occurred. So, you as well have benefited from it. Places like Oxford and Cambridge with supporters like Rhodes colonialized southern Africa and oppressed the black africans in their own homeland and so it was hardly out of line.

dont attack others positions and then not feel it is right to also have your positions questioned. this is a forum, not your own personal attack website.

But you're not attacking HER position, are you? She has taken a line to say that she doesn't agree with you, and while you're not obliged to be pleased or even justify your own beliefs, she did say quite politely that she was looking for the opinions of others. And you're not attacking her, you're suggesting that she is somehow responsible for the evils of the rich British back at least a hundred years ago. Even were she rich aristocracy, how is attacking her nation's history the same as attacking her personal stance? She would be accountable like every other British voter for the decisions of today's politicians, but would you like her to wave a magic wand and change the past? Don't you find it infinitely likely that Tash would be the type of person to have resisted slavery along with William Wilberforce and co back in the 19th century, when a small but powerful movement put a stop to the evil behind UK's wealth?

But you want to take that line, do you? To attach to each person's conscience the collective evils of their nation? Fine. You are a proud and nationalistic American, but America's wealth comes, as it always has, from the exploitation of developing nations all over the world, from warmongering and implanting puppet governments in weak nations in the middle East, in Africa, in Asia, in Latin America. Whichever government the US succeeds in electing, you can guarantee that war, war and 'defence' will walk centre stage in its foreign policy. I'm certain you have taken no personal part in these activities but as a proud American, who has not taken steps to resist these trends and activities, I'm afraid that I am going to have to call you an exploiter, a cold blooded killer of Iraqis and destroyer of the planet's environment. Dangerous line to go down, isn't it? Colonialism never disappeared, but these days it wears a different garb.

she explicitly took a thread from another forum area, then using my name to precursor her debate or even question, was making it personal.

if she was interested in knowing the opinion of others on a topic, then she could have just said "I would like to know what others think about this, right there on the post thread.but she didnt, she didnt like my position and when I didnt come to her side of the fence on the issue, she tried to enlist others in her political position on animal rights.

I dont have a problem with her position, I respect that she has her own position--I dont agree with it but I will fight for her right to have that position.

she then has others come in calling those they disagree with "chimptards'--and she agrees with that racist statement.

she states she doesnt like violence but supports Silvercoma for physically threatening to hit me--which is quite hypocritical for a so called peace loving person.

So which is it, Peace or violence? If she can support one sort of violence against people then I can support hunting and bullfighting--it is my right as it is her right.

her statements were racist in that she wants us to believe that white Europe is somehow guilt free of its illicit trafficking in human bondage, its colonialism and its violence against people of color. and I stand against that and say, dont preach about violence bloodsports(started in Europe) by the way and then not see the irony of the bloodsport by white europeans against black, brown, yellow and red people all over the world for centuries.

Bush is a clown. Yes im a conservative Republican and proud of it but Bush is a disgrace to our party. He's nowhere near men like Lincoln or Reagan.
