Pretty interesting look at how the swelling of the Brisbane river affected the surrounding suburbs during the recent floods. http://www.abc.net.au/news/infographics/qld-floods/beforeafter.htm
Thousands of volunteers have been out helping friends, family and total strangers with the clean up. Here's a few pics:
My friend's photography blog has some really great pics of the flood waters and the clean up. Worth checking out.
warms my heart to see peeps helping others. now we're just waiting and watching for the vic floods to stop
I think Queenslanders already are. We can sense the uplifting spirit of that ol' Aussie "mateship" even from down here. We've heard so many stories of strangers walking in off the street and spending their entire day helping to clean someone's property. The volunteering and the donations have been phenomenal. I've heard from my friends in Brisbane that the city is already beginning to be back to normal just from the sheer volume of people on the ground pitching in and getting it done.
Wow insane before and after, even the Brisbane Roar soccer stadium pitch was like a river. Mother Nature is furious when unleashed. Hope folks can get back to some sense of normality as quick as possible. Can hardly imagine what that experience is like to go through.
