Did anyone else here about this "uncontacted tribe" they found in Brazil? It's pretty fascinating. The pics are from the air, and the photographers/reporters said that, the tribesmen were trying to shoot arrows and spears at the helicopter. I wonder what it must be like to not have any knowledge of motor vehicles, running water, a telephone, shoot....even sidewalks - just simple things that we take for granted. It's pretty cool though...I find it quite fascinating. 8) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,360361,00.html
I saw this...they say there are still about 100 of these types of groups in the world....I wonder how "uncontacted" are they....do they have any idea what the world is like around them or are they so isolated that they would run at the sight of an automobile? An anthropologist or archaelogist would be so giddy, they wouldn't know where to start.
i know...i wondered the same thing - how isolated are they? bookworm is an archeaologist...i wonder if she's excited...i know i am, and i'm just a peon, lol.
Well, I'm not a cultural anthropologist. My main interest is in past civilizations and human remains. But, this is very fascinating to me! I can't believe with all of the development and population spread throughout this world that there are THAT many uncontacted tribes in existence! I always find this stuff fascinating and when they find new species of plants or animals. So, I guess our modern civilization still hasn't been everywhere.
they shot arrows (even the mountain boy Vietcong guerillas had guns) at a helicopter mate if they had explosive-tipped arrows like Rambo... well... may be a different story then
I find this report, as well as others that are similar, to be quite fascinating. With the billions being spent on space exploration, there apparently are territories still uncharted here on earth. The report mentions that there will be mandates to prevent encroachment upon their territory and that's good. But these findings make me wonder how modern industrialized society has affected, directly or indirectly, these types of tribes. Are the foods they eat affected by our polution? And if they're intelligent enough to recognize that this "flying piece of metal" was man made, did the very site of a helicopter open a previously closed sense of curiosity about what's beyond those trees? While I don't question the legitimacy of this report, I do wonder how I'd react if this was a "modern man" made idea (think M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village").
::music::...."dum, dum, dum".... i never thought about that....but it's very interesting. i love...i mean LOVE M. Night Shyamalan!! have you seen previews to his new one, "the happening"? i can't wait!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed M. Night's "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable", "Signs" and "The Village". But that last piece of turd he layed (I don't even want to say the name of the movie) caused him to lose a little of his luster. 1 mistake (horrifyingly bad mistake that it was) in 5 movies isn't bad, so I'll forgive him this time. But let it happen one mo' gin and it's on. I've seen the trailer and it looks great so I'm going to pay it a visit at some point. But he's on notice.
That reminds me about those Japanese soldiers they found still fighting ww2 decades after it was over.
you're so silly. are you talking about "lady in the water"? i thought that was a pretty cool movie. my brother thought it sucked, but he's picky, lol. why didn't you like it? i thought it was really interesting - something different.
 Why didn't I like it? Come on now! The script was a bedtime story he created for his children that he somehow tried to pass off as adult cinema. The movie had no redeeming value whatsoever. If he does it again, I'll strip anyone who compares him to Alfred Hitchcock of their journalistic credentials
Wow, you wield alot of power. Note to self: don't write anything good about any more M. Night movies....
lol @ newpower! you're a trip...i like bedtime stories with childlike themes...maybe that's why i liked it so much. i think movies like "lady in the water" are refreshing to see on the bigscreen, b/c they're not full of sex and blood and gore and the "F-bomb". i don't think you can compare m. night shy to mr. hitchcock - to me they have different styles, completely. but they are both great writers, no doubt.
Suprchic, you're making me wish I hadn't thrown that dvd away so I could've shipped it you   As for its refreshing nature, I can understand your point. But I'm one who enjoys the blood, bullets, gore and F-bombs in movies quite a bit. For the most part, those things are exaggerated to the point where it's cartoonish. As for the sex, I can do without that too. But tell me you'd say that it was refreshing if a movie like "The Notebook" didn't have sex scenes.
you're such a boy! lmao!!! see, i wouldn't really classify the sex scene in "the notebook" as a sex scene....it was pretty subtle, and it was sweet. there wasn't even nudity, except for like half of a nipple...lol and also, when i say sex, i don't mean there necessarily has to be a sex scene. some of these half-brain movies like "american pie", etc. are just based on the whole idea of sex - like it's something new that has been recently discovered. i just find it to be immature and pathetic. ya know? **crawls down off her soapbox**
**escorts her back up to her soapbox for rock throwing** <---just kidding  You're darned tooten, I'm a boy. Card carrying member of "boydom" I understand your point about the scenes in "The Notebook". But I'm sure you can tell from the tone of my previous post that I wholeheartedly disagree. Those two were banging...I'm sorry, making love...like jack rabbits. But because it was sweet, it's somehow better? That's not something you'd show your 10 year old so what makes it better than "American Pie"? <---rhetorical question because I already know your answer. As far as sex not being a new idea, I personally Hollywood is out of new ideas
**sticks her tongue out at newpower** lol, whatever, dude. you go on with ya sex movies, and i'll stick with my fairytales, lol. and p.s: i totally agree that hollywood is out of any new ideas.
