Oil pools in between booms in Barataria Bay near Grand Isle, Louisiana. The BP oil spill has been called one of the largest environmental disasters in American history.

An internal BP document shows the company estimated that in the worst case, their broken oil well would pump more than 100,000 barrels of oil a day into the sea - far more than the company let on publicly.

The document was made public by Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Energy and Environment Subcommittee.
