I remember Kid mentioned it of no brothers as love interests. I just wait til it gets to the $1.50 theater in my city.

Why would anyone think there would be black male love interests in the film? TPTB of the show didn't really touch that topic at all except for a limited guest appearance by Blair Underwood and one ep in which the oversexed lady was interested in a young, black male (who was portrayed as a cowardly punk who could not stand up to his sister who objected to his dating a white woman). The Blair Underwood story would not have come about if the lesbian actress on the show didn't pull some strings.

Seriously SATC is worse than "Friends". It focused on showing only the elite side of NYC; in other words the part sof New York City dominated almost exclusively by the wealthy, the very fashion conscious and the very white. Its Woody Allen's New York just from the perspective of sex-hungry white women and gays. The fact that black women became huge addicts of this show was a totall surprise to TPTB because they certainly weren't trying to make a show for them.

That being said I'm not angry or insulted by the notion that there aren't any black male love interests in the film. Why should one fim be held to that standard? I'm more upset that the industry as a whole will not make any films in which a lead white female character has a black male love interest.

I agree. But, the point I'm trying to make: peeps on this site should boycott the flick to make Hollyweird produce some BM/WW romance movies.

Oh it's gonna happen. Mark my words, this is gonna be a cultural phenomenon in the making. I'm surprised that you don't see it already in real life. So with that being said, what do motion pictures represent?

    Art imitating life. :smt045

Just give it a little time.

When I saw Jennifer Holiday on clips of that flick I knew those folks wanted a little color on that movie. JamalS the big difference between Friends and SITC is the number of brothers on that show. My fave episodes are the love scenes of Blair Underwood and Cynthia Nixon.

Straight men would probably enjoy all the single women prospects AFTER the movie. LOL.

I know what you mean, Bookworm.

But to be honest single women would probably be uncomfortable with a single man who likes "Sex and the City".

Just watch SATC take a drop big-time at next weekend's box office tally.

In a movie with an audience that's 85% women, the box office is short-lived.

My boyfriend took me Saturday night. Now that is a REAL man. Willing to endure 2 and a half hours of shoes, he's a keeper. :D

I gotta say, I'm not a big "chick flick" kind of girl.. I mean.. I occasionally get in the mood to watch "The Notebook" or something cheesy like that.. but I was talked into going to see SATC this weekend and it was actually really good. I do realize that there weren't any IR relationships in the film, but that's because the 4 main characters had all been in long relationships with white men from previous seasons.

I do think that they could have had some IR relationships in the film, but I don't think that it necessarily means it's an awful movie because it doesn't.. unless they refused even the idea of them..

Don't forget two of those characters had relations with brothers but briefly.

Not true. And that is actually one of the lies hollywood uses to not make female targeted movies. Much like how they use to tell lies to get out of making black targeted movies.

Titanic was propelled into one of the highest grossing movies of all time by women.

Our local movie theater has already had two private bookings for the movie.
