A friend of mine was telling me that sometimes (not all) he notices other minority groups get envious, friendly in a sly way, when he is doing well. Asians, Indians, Mexicans (for those in the US), Turks etc. When he was at university (med school) not to be a doctor, just the degree. When they see his white girlfriend etc, etc. Another is that they start talking to him about how much they hate white people.

My question to you is, have you ever noticed that they act......different. I can't quite describe it as I'm not a black man, but I wanted know if it was true or he was just pulling my leg.

We've had threads about it from time to time.

I see it all the time..

They hate on behalf of white males.

No sane person would go to med school just for the degree.

It's like saying I'm gonna shoot my leg off just for fun. To put it plainly, that's completely fucked.

You don't get an MD degree for that... unless you want to do clinical research and then you have to be a practicing doc anyhow.

When something doesn't make sense, you have to ask yourself why it doesn't make sense? I wouldn't focus as much on the bizarre school statement as much as the post in general. In this case, I wonder if Jenny Art is like a cat with nine lives and personas? Isn't this how it always starts out?

I could be wrong, but there's something about the way this person engages people. I noticed the interaction with DK?

True but JA never engaged me especially unprovoked. I agree that I think this is someone's alter ego. I might have misspoke by saying it was Lippy. Well whatever on ignore she goes.

There is athletes in the UK that have medical degrees. It's only 5 years and the person would be finished at the age of only 22/23.

Things are done faster in the UK? College is 16-18. University is 18-21/22/23.
Medschool is just the degree. After that there is 18-24 months of being a Junior doctor. My friend didn't want to be a doctor anymore but thought he should complete the degree anyway.

Just because someone studies a subject, that doesn't mean they have to stick to it.

Medicine is a very competitive course and students study hard and sacrifice leisure time when their mates are hitting the pubs and clubs and swiggimg beer and other alcoholic beverages down their throats. It would be asinine to go through all that self-deprivation and say i just want the degree but i dont be a doctor.

This is true unless you realized that you wouldn't make much or you truly hated it with a passion.

I think that most people that finish the degree, who hate it, do it because their parents are "making" them and end up practicing medicine anyways. Anyone else I've seen hate the program, just leave and develop real lives lol.

Medicine is one degree I would not finish if I hated it. It just sucks so much life out of you, it's not worth it without the passion. :smt095

In Canada and the US it is 4 years for your MD, preceded by a 4 year undergraduate degree. After the MD, it's a minimum of 3 years residency in the US or 2 in Canada. No light feat to accomplish.

Onlt the first 3 years are clinical then the 2 years are practical. Why is it asinine to do that? If I study maths, that doesn't mean I have to be a maths teacher or work for Nasa. People can have a change of hearts.

And it can also be an additional 3 - 5 years for a fellowship
