Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) - Author and Television Personality Janet Langhart Cohen, who is African-American and the wife of former Secretary of Defense, William S. Cohen, issued the following statement after the racist comments made by comedian Michael Richards:

"I recommend that comedian Michael Richards not follow Mel Gibson into rehab, but instead read my one act play about Anne Frank and Emmett Till and how anti-Semitism and racism destroyed them both."

Anne and Emmett reveals through dialogue, the commonality of the struggle shared by African Americans and the Jewish people. This unfortunate incident offers an opportunity to have an open dialogue on racism and anti-Semitism.
