I would have to agree that there is a cultural sense of being sensitive to racial issues and anything perceived as an attack however slight against us.

I am more laid back and chill to get a rise out of much....in fact racism/ignorance is more entertainment for me....it makes me laugh how colossally stupid or oblivious a person can be to think that way in this day and age. Almost like a superhuman effort to remain stupid or mentally ill. I actually get more offended when people I know attack women or gays as a group vs blacks

True story…I was working at a club one night and had to kick out this big burly black dude. As he left the building he said out loud “Thanks for inviting all the black people to Novi:. I l smiled and said “Thanks for inviting us to the Country buddy”.

Why are you more offended by comments against gays and women?
All of that shit is equally disgusting to me, injustice is disgusting.

One reason....there is a sub-culture in our culture that feeds much of the racism that comes towards us. The crime rate, the murder rate, STD rate, incarceration rate(some racism in that I agree, maybe a lot..post on that later), our INSANELY high rate of children being raised by a single parent-usually a mom…that’s 1 part of the sub culture….the other part are those that don’t want to talk about it and choose to ignore the violence, poverty, and children growing up in occupied territory

I know most of this was created for many of us….I know this is the environment that centuries of slavery, segregation, unfair housing/education practices has created…..however we seem to do a lot to sustain it…..

Another reason…I feel like we have it better than gays and women. Black men were allowed to vote first, and we have a black president first…..women are dehumanized in different ways than us and from my point of view it leaves them slightly lower on society scale….homosexuals are lower than that. And black women…well….black and female…nuff said. I know that may piss some off but I just see women and gays as more under attack than black men….look at who the republican party is now strongly targeting now…

Take the voting rights act we just lost. We lost provision 4 because of this “mindset” in the country that we live in a post-racial America and racism is not that big of a problem. While this means many Americans have their head up their ass….I believe we (blacks) played a role in that.

I did a presentation once in grad school called “Crying Wolf”. It’s a term I used to describe when we cry racism over something without having many facts or any information at all…ex) 1) She don’t like me cause I’m black….2) I didn’t get the job cause I’m black…3)Police pulled me over cause I’m black…in reality 1) Your ugly 2) You have no education/job experience 3) you ran red light, did not stop when police tried to pull you over, then tried to fight and you had gun/drugs in a stolen car with an expired license.

Other cultures take notice of this calling racism when there is no evidence of it and is SOMETIMES used to as an excuse to be witless and lazy. So when REAL racist shit does happen….it seems almost benign to some because there is the part of the culture that calls it out so much.

Meanwhile…..REAL racist comments from political pundits/etc galvanize the base (conservatives of course)…the left complains racism but since its such a saturated field….most Americans (who are generally not that insightful/intuitive or intelligent especially in racial matters) simply think its nothing.

And before yall lose your fucking minds just remember I am saying we play a part in this…not the whole part of even the largest…but it is something to think about

Dude I hear you I strongly disagree but I hear you.
You raise a plethora of questions though, like separating all these groups that could occupy two of or all three categories. So are you more or less just saying you don't sympathize with black straight males?
And has symbolic as the first "black" president seems to be for people all it has done in my opinion is illustrate how racist people in this country truly were but never felt the need to express it as much. I've never seen a president more disrespected or hated. So many sites have him listed as the worst president in our history which shows you how deep that race is especially following the dude who got us into two unwanted drawn out wars and created the climate for the biggest economic crash in history yet Obama is the worst ever.
I could go on but like I said I hear but don't agree.
Good to see I'm not the only one who works third shift lol

Well you could say the same of any group even those you take special offense for. The feminist movement has greatly diminished a lot of the issues women complain about like equal pay for the same job ignoring the fact that many women don't get paid as much as men do on average because they either leave the workforce to raise kids or don't engage in high risk jobs like logging or firefighting which pay well.
Gays who don't have any regard how in your face flamboyancy can make straight people uncomfortable not to mention those who take it upon themselves to push up on straight men even when they express no interest.
Any group can have their oppression undermined by those who "cry wolf" but its our jobs as educated and insightful people to separate the real shit from the bullshit. We should stop cannonizing those who are of a suffering group and realize they are people no better no worst. So do we stop taking rape seriously because there are piece of shit women who lie about it? No we take the time to find out the truth first and react second not the other way around.

    Let me clarify

Obama winning does not mean we live in post race America. I agree it has actually brought out the worst racists out of hiding. He is the most disrespected president in history and has more threats against his life than all other presidents combined and that was back in 2010! I was simply saying we got a black male president before a female….and I guarantee when Hilary gets on in 2016 her insults will rival Obama.

Another thing….when people are openly or even overtly racist toward me….or I read things in paper like what Rand Paul former press secretary said on MLK day :Happy Nigger day” I laugh…I laugh because to me….they are morons and to be that stupid in this day and age takes a lot of struggle. (I have dark fucked up humor). But I completely sympathize with straight black men that struggle with the system of oppression, poverty, violence, systemic/overt etc. I am one of them. And I always will be.

I simply feel that women and gays have it worse than we do. A large group in society is trying to control what a woman does with her body…not just to have a baby…..but even reproductive prevention and overall healthcare. Also…..I can be out of prison, have any and all disease, beat the shit out of all my women and kids…but I can still get married and have all the federal benefits of it.

And your right…all groups cry wolf. Even conservatives….ESP them however the feminists and gays leaders have more control over their respective groups than black leaders do…way more…..remember 2008? Who flamboyant the gays were on TV when gay marriage was approved and later shot down by prop 8….check them out now…suits, ties, regular looking people. Our leaders can’t exactly control the coonery buffoonery as well as other groups control their extremists.

Don't be fooled by media magic my friend. The buffoons are the ones who get media coverage and make it seem as though there are more doing that than there is. Btw in New York state ex cons don't get federal benefits so that isn't a universal thing even though I catch your drift.
And if Hilary Clinton runs and win it will be a completely different presidency because white female women have a much stronger voting presence than all of the black community combined so I don't think those shenanigans will go down the same way not to mention in those circles its way more acceptable to be anti black than anti woman because they don't have to deal with black people in their every day lives but they do have to deal with white women.

You are right about the Media....but remember what I do....remember where I grew up.....I know I only deal with 10-15% of the population…but here in Detroit…the coons you see on TV are commonplace….the literacy institute did a study here in 2010….47% of the population is functionally illiterate. I meet a ton of very intelligent black people as well…not all are what I call “ninja turtles” (euphemisms for another word.lol). But very few of them ever want to even acknowledge that with our community there is a disproportionate amount of ignorance, inertia, intolerance, violence, the list goes on. We can all go back and forth of how people of same groups treat one another…but in America….well Africa too…but here…there is a problem…and I have a deep fear that the coonery is something that is spreading and getting bigger and worse more than disappearing and getting smaller. And Media does play a large role in that….

Look at any poor disenfranchised group in the western world and you see that shit its not unique to blacks fam. Don't let a small demographic color your perception of as a whole. Most of us are hardworking and/or well educated law abiding citizens.

omg....I know this...I know the majority of blacks are hard working, law abiding citizens….
My concern is…and always has been the sub-group because not only is it larger than it should be (because of slavery/discrimination-but also some things we do to sustain it) but because there is another sub-group in the group at large that either condones, accepts, or flat out ignores what the destructive sub-group does.

No matter what I say or how I say it I don’t think blacks are some inferior lazy or evil people. I am black. I am not a republican.lol…..I simply think there are some issues that are more destructive in our community than in others in this country…and statistics pretty much prove that. I also think that ignoring these issues make the matters worse.

Or makes excuses for. Or won't snitch.

Sure, everyone can justify it with 'reasons' why....have heard them all and then some, but in the end, does actively or silently excusing any behavior (don't care which 'race' does it, frankly)... change the circumstances for the better?
