I read the article a while back. I think they are an amazing couple. I found this interesting:

Katie, too, has sometimes struggled with her unusual situation, and how outsiders perceive it. When she's not drawing, swimming or pining after teen heartthrob Zac Efron, she's often dealing with normal kid teasing with a nasty edge. "They'll ignore me or yell at me because I have a black family," she says. Most of her friends are black, although her school is primarily white. And Terri has noticed something else: Katie is uncomfortable identifying people by their race.

    She looks bi-racial.

Usually people who do things like that look at life through rose colored glasses.

There have been many white families who adopted black kids only to give them back after a few years. They never knew how their families and friends TRUE feelings were towards race until they adopted a black child. Because many white people can go through life and NEVER experience the true nature of some of their family and friends, many are not prepared or strong enough to deal with that type of hostility. It is truly foreign to many white people.

thats great, i am a black father who just adopted a Chinese daughter, so of course i think thats great. i actually believed what Martin Luther King was talking about , integration and not color but character. seems that kings dream is dead for most but still alive in a few of us
