Black NYC firefighters accept $98M settlement

    Congrats to them. I do know for a fact that there is discrimination amongst promoting within once they become a firefighter...Does anyone have any insight into how the discrimination might occur if they take a new-hire test, pass, etc. Do you actually get chosen amongst the applicants? No clue how the Department does it...

    When the municipal government I worked for in the 90s investigated this issue, they discovered examples of white firefighters being given access to the test answers beforehand. It was so bad in several cities that the court had ordered independent third-party firms to administer exams rather than allow the department to control them.
